Megan Fox Says Helping Girls Come Out Gives Her ‘Purpose’
Megan Fox has been making a lot of headlines lately. Her career is having a revival thanks to roles in films like Midnight in the Switchgrass and Night Teeth, as well as the upcoming Johnny & Clyde. Her relationship with musician Machine Gun Kelly has also garnered a great deal of attention.
But Fox recently shared that something besides her career or love life gives her a sense of purpose and satisfaction. Here’s what the star said about helping girls come out as LGBTQ.
Megan Fox has been open about her sexuality in the past
When it comes to Fox’s romantic life, most fans now associate her with rapper/punk-rocker Machine Gun Kelly. But Fox has been candid in the past about her sexuality, sharing that she identifies as bisexual.
Back in 2009, Fox told Esquire (per Marie Claire), “I think people are born bisexual, and they make subconscious choices based on the pressures of society.” Fox was dating actor Brian Austin Green at the time.
The Transformers star also that although she is bisexual, she wouldn’t sleep with another bisexual woman.
“I have no question in my mind about being bisexual. But I’m also a hypocrite,” Fox shared. “I would never date a girl who was bisexual because that means they also sleep with men, and men are so dirty that I’d never want to sleep with a girl who had slept with a man.”
She was also adamant that she’s not a lesbian. “I’m not a lesbian. I just think that all humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes.”
The actor even shared who her female celebrity crushes were. “I mean, I could see myself in a relationship with a girl – Olivia Wilde is so sexy she makes me want to strangle a mountain ox with my bare hands. She’s mesmerizing. And lately, I’ve been obsessed with Jenna Jameson, but… oh boy.”
The actor says she has helped countless girls come out
Besides being the year that Fox opened up about her sexuality to Esquire, 2009 is also when Fox’s cult classic horror-comedy film Jennifer’s Body came out. The movie, which features a makeout scene between Fox and Amanda Seyfried, inspired countless women to come out of the closet.
In an Oct. 2021 interview with the New York Post, Fox said, “I can’t tell you how many girls, from 30 down into their teens – or, f— that, my age, too – come up to me and are like, ‘I realized I was gay because of you,’ or ‘I felt comfortable coming out because of you,’ because of Jennifer’s Body and the interviews I did about being bisexual before it was cool.
“That’s something that’s so important to me, that I’m so proud of,” the 35-year-old actor said. “If my purpose on Earth was to help one girl come out of the closet and feel OK about it, I had an amazing purpose here.”
Megan Fox reminded fans that she’s bisexual this year
Even though Fox is currently in a highly-publicized relationship with Machine Gun Kelly and was married to Brian Austin Green in the past, it’s clear that being bisexual is an important aspect of her identity.
In the midst of headlines about her shutting down red carpets and exchanging streamy banter on social media with boyfriend MGK, Fox took to her Instagram earlier this year to remind everyone that she is part of the LGBTQ community.
On June 26, at the end of Pride Month, Fox posted three photos showing off a rainbow manicure. She is also wearing a multi-colored necklace in two of the pictures.
She captioned the images, “Putting the B in #LGBTQIA for over two decades 🌈🌈 @moveon @intoactionus #pride”
