Megan Thee Stallion Has Her Fingers Crossed for 1 Major Collaboration
Megan Thee Stallion is up for four Grammys in the 2021 race, including Record of the Year and Best New Artist.
Even in the midst of the social media drama surrounding her being shot, she’s determined to push through in her work. The arrival of Good News on Nov. 20 signified a new chapter in Megan’s musical career and features the diss track “Shots Fired.”
With a huge fan base and a few major collaborations under her belt, there’s still one more artist the “Savage” rapper would love to join forces with for a record.
Megan Thee Stallion’s notable collaborations thus far
Last year, Megan Thee Stallion and rap heavyweight Nicki Minaj teamed up to create the “Hot Girl Summer” anthem. After Megan turned the term into a rallying call, the track seemed inevitable and so did a song with a big artist such as Minaj. It went platinum.
2019 also saw Megan release collaborations with Quavo, Gucci Mane, DaBaby, and ex-boyfriend Moneybagg Yo. Moving into 2020, she dropped songs with Normani, SZA, and Young Thug. But two of her alliances yielded massive returns this year: “Savage” with Beyoncé and “WAP” with Cardi B.
And then came the debut of Good News.
Megan Thee Stallion names which artist is on her wish list
When discussing her new album with Power 106, Megan spoke about her creative process, balancing work and school, and future music. Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk asked her who’d she love to collaborate with next, and she said the one and only Rihanna.
With her fingers crossed, she said, “I really, really, really want to collab with Rihanna. Let’s put that into the universe. The bad girl and the hot girl.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s track record for connecting with other artists is pretty solid, and if this wish comes true for her, it will probably wind up being both a surprise and big hit. Fans would welcome it.
Where Rihanna is with new music
Since Rihanna popped up on the scene with her Fenty Skin launch in July and her epic fashion show, people kept asking about new music.
The most recent thing she did this year was a feature called “Believe” on PartyNextDoor’s album, but according to her, a project is in the works. She even hinted at a Neptunes-produced track.
What’s been deemed as R9 is slated to be reggae-infused. In an interview with British Vogue, she said she’s been aggressively making music and loves to record in London. As for what fans can expect, Rihanna stated, “ I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.”
She added that there won’t be a theme or format for R9 but it’s a work in progress. For fans and artists like Megan Thee Stallion, that means the door is open for hot collaborations.
