Megan Thee Stallion Refuses to Settle in a Relationship Because of Her Dad
Megan Thee Stallion may be a self-proclaimed “hot girl,” but that doesn’t mean she’ll put up with just anyone. When it comes to relationships, Megan knows her worth, and she won’t settle for anything less. An attitude like that is hard to come by, but the rapper had a secret weapon for developing her confidence early on – Her father.
Who is Megan Thee Stallion?
With a bold, brash, and tell-it-like-it-is attitude, Megan was able to achieve success in the music industry with songs like “Big Ole Freak,” “Cash Sh*t,” and “Hot Girl Summer.” The artist was born with the name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete. Her raping moniker was inspired by a high school nickname. According to Rolling Stone, at that time in her life, grown men would often call her “stallion,” which is Southern slang for a voluptuous woman.
Megan grew up around rap culture. Her mother pursued a rapping career under the name Holly-Wood, and would bring Megan to the recording studio as a child.
“I would be in the little lounge area, chilling on the couch, just going, ‘Wow, this is interesting!'” Megan told XXL Magazine about watching her mother work in the studio. “I was in there writing too. She’ll be over her instrumentals, doing her thing, but I’ll be in there, secretly putting it together in my head.”
This experience made Megan realize from a young age that she wanted to be a rapper. But when she shared her dream out loud, her mom insisted that Megan wait until she was 21 to pursue the career.
Unfortunately, years later, just as she was finally starting to see success as a rapper, Megan’s mother passed away from brain cancer. She was forced to continue pushing forward in her career, even though her heart was broken. But Megan saw plenty of success over the next few months, as she became a dominating force in the rapping world.
Megan Thee Stallion’s father taught her about relationships
Megan is a strong, confidant woman that won’t tolerate anything less than she deserves, especially when it comes to relationships. She credits her father with teaching her what a respectful relationship looks like.
Although he died when she was a freshman in high school, and he spent the first eight years of her life in prison, Megan still calls her father her best friend. He was released when she was still a young girl, and they spent almost every day together building a secure connection. She was able to observe and learn from the way he treated her, and also the way he treated other women in his life. In a recent interview with Marie Claire, Megan discussed his father’s influence in her life.
“I saw how he treated my mom,” she said, “and I saw how my dad treated me. I have so many strong positive influences. I’m not going to lower my standards.”
As an adult, Megan honors his memory by keeping her standards for any relationship high. She’s not going to lower the bar, because her father taught her exactly what she deserves.
Is Megan Thee Stallion in a relationship?
Throughout her career, Megan has been hounded by rumors of her relationship status, but it appears there’s very little truth to any of it. She’s learned that as a celebrity, she has to be extremely careful about who she’s seen with because the media will make it into something that it’s not.
“People will think that if I’m hanging out with anybody, it got to be, ‘Oh, they’re having sex.’ Why can’t I just be turnt up with my friend tonight?” Megan told Rolling Stone.
She did briefly have a romantic connection with fellow rapper Moneybagg Yo in 2019. The couple went public by posting an Instagram photo together, which Megan captioned, “He’s a Hot Boy now.” However, the relationship only lasted a few months.
The Hot Girl Summer rapper has since confirmed that she’s currently single. However, lately, she’s been seen hanging out with G-Easy several times, and many have speculated they’re an item. But this may be another false rumor. Megan stated point-blank on Twitter that she’s not with the white rapper.
Whoever Megan does end up with, we know that thanks to her father, it will definitely have to be someone that treats her right.
