Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been living a life far away from the royal spotlight since the two moved to the United States in 2020.  They have only returned to the United Kingdom together on rare occasions, such as funerals or the late queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Meghan and Harry reportedly view the royal feud differently, with Meghan being more “at ease” with their decision for one key reason.

Meghan Markle is ‘at ease’ with the royal feud because of her own family, expert says

When Meghan and Harry started dating, nobody could predict how their relationships with royal family members would play out. Fast forward years later, and they hardly speak to anyone across the pond. But Harry has said multiple times that he loves his family and believes they can reconcile, while Meghan is less involved. One expert thinks this is because she’s seen it happen with her own family and is at peace with the way things landed with her relatives. Plus, she doesn’t have the lengthy royal history Harry does.

“She doesn’t have an entire and complex history of life in the confines of the royal family to worry about,” royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine UK. “It’s easy for her to look forward, ensconced as she is in a country and lifestyle she is so used to and clearly loves,” Bond added, referring to Meghan living in the US.

But Bond also said Meghan has been through this before, and that brings her more ease. “[Meghan] seems to be at ease with estrangement from her own family.” Meghan does not speak to any members of her immediate family except for the close relationship she has with her mother, Doria Ragland.

Meghan Markle remains open to Prince Harry fixing things with his family

It’s long been said that while Meghan doesn’t necessarily agree with Harry’s desire to build a better relationship with his family, she does support whatever decision he makes. Bond said that it could be “quite frustrating” for Meghan because she wants to leave the royal past behind, but that Meghan also understands why Harry would want to maintain UK connections.

Harry has returned to the UK alone on a number of occasions, including for a brief visit to see his father shortly after King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. But to the public’s knowledge, Harry has not spoken to Prince William on any of his return trips since 2022. The two brothers had a falling out around the same time that Harry did with his father, but it seems that Charles has been making more of an effort to improve relations with Harry than William. Right now, it’s unclear whether Harry will ever be on great terms with the family again.
