Meghan Markle Subtly Calls Out the Royal Family For Not Supporting Prince Harry: ‘You’re His Family’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been thick as thieves since they met back in 2016. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex only dated for a little more than a year before they became engaged, and they wed in 2018. Since then, Meghan has stuck by her husband’s side through thick and thin, but she has made it clear that she has no room in her life for the royal family.
During a speech at the 2025 Invictus Games, Meghan said one line that has some people thinking she took a subtle swipe at her husband’s family.

Did Meghan Markle take a shot at Prince Harry’s family?
Harry and Meghan risked a whole lot to leave the royal family, and in some ways, they’re still dealing with the fallout. The duke and duchess have remained one unit, though, and during Harry’s 2025 Invictus Games, Meghan gave a heartfelt speech acknowledging everyone who was a part of the successful competition and charitable week of events. However, it was one line of Meghan’s that gave some people pause. Meghan was speaking before introducing her husband to the crowd when she said, “[Harry will] be on his phone and Archie will say, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone? He’s like, this is Invictus. I’m getting ready for Invictus,” Meghan started to say. But she finished the line with, “It means so much to him. You’re his family, just as we are his family.”
It’s those last two sentences that have people thinking Meghan might have been making a subtle dig at Harry’s family, none of whom attend the events in Canada to support the prince. Instead, Meghan referred to everyone else there as the prince’s family. Of course, it’s open to interpretation, and it’s impossible to say whether she meant it in such a way.
Meghan Markle proved she and Prince Harry aren’t going anywhere
Meghan supported Harry during the Invictus Games, and there were plenty of moments where the two were showing their love for one another in the public eye. Meghan flew home early to be with the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but she still shared a heartfelt Instagram post for her husband.
“My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever,” part of Meghan’s caption read. “Thank you for you.” Despite what the haters say, Harry and Meghan’s love appears to be going stronger than ever. And Harry seems to be doing just fine with his little family of four.
