Meghan Markle has been finding her footing in California over the last few years. The Duchess of Sussex has taken on a number of business ventures, including a podcast, cooking show, and her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Some could say she’s a force to be reckoned with, and there is certainly a chance her newest show and brand will work out. But some royal experts claim Meghan could cause “problems” for the royal family with these latest business moves.

Here’s why Meghan Markle’s new business ventures could be problematic

Back in 2023, news spread that Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, wasn’t performing the way then-partner Spotify had hoped. The brand and the duchess ended up cutting ties, and it was a big blow to Meghan’s career. And as her popularity struggles in both the United States and overseas, some royal experts think there is a chance these newest business ventures won’t be as successful as Meghan had hoped. And if that happens, it could spell trouble for the royal family.

“If Harry and Meghan don’t get A-lister support … Well, there were reports originally they considering up to four books,” commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Kinsey Schofield on her To Di For Daily podcast (per Express), referring to the idea that Harry and Meghan could go back to discussing royal secrets in order to make money if these upcoming ventures don’t pan out.

“One of them could be Meghan’s memoir, one of them could be the 400 pages Harry said were cut from ‘Spare’ because he thought they would cause problems. Another one could be his memoir when a child and so forth. So, you could get more trouble in the future.”

Meghan Markle’s cooking show and lifestyle brand could be a slam dunk

The reality is that this could go either way for the duchess. Although Meghan doesn’t have quite the fan base that the royal family does, she does have some experience in the lifestyle setting. Prior to meeting Harry, Meghan ran a successful lifestyle blog called The Tig, which she had to give up on in order to marry into the family.

Although Meghan hasn’t brought back The Tig, it did give her a decent understanding of what types of lifestyle content people are looking for online. So, it was probably a good jumping off point for her upcoming lifestyle brand and cooking show. Of course, it’s hard to say right now the level of success Meghan will see, but it does seem like she’s chosen things that are more in her wheelhouse for these next projects.
