Suits premiered in 2011 and earned a handful of awards and nominations

This comedy-drama series, which premiered during 2011, details the life of the Manhattan corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his team. Nine seasons premiered on a few different television networks and some episodes are even available for streaming with Amazon Prime memberships.

In its run, Suits earned People’s Choice Award nominations for “Favorite Cable TV Drama” and “Favorite Dramedy.” In 2018, this series earned an Imagen Award for “Best Supporting Actress – Television,” awarded to Gina Torres.

Additionally, the same actress earned nominations a few years prior. However, some fans are wondering if Meghan Markle, senior royal family member, earned any awards from her time with this television series.

Has Meghan Markle won an award for portraying Rachel Zane in ‘Suits’?

Although Meghan Markle is not one of the longest-running cast members in this television series, she appeared as the character Rachel Zane for over 100 episodes. According to IMDB, she left the series in 2018, later becoming a member of the British royal family by marrying Prince Harry.

Unfortunately, Meghan Markle never earned an Emmy nomination for her acting in Suits. In fact, in its almost ten-year run, Suits was never nominated for an Emmy or Golden Globe award. Over her lifetime, however, Meghan Markle earned a number of recognitions for her activism and advocacy for women’s equality.

IMDB reports that “during a UN panel debating the gender gap, Meghan Markle spoke out about refusing to film certain scenes in Suits which featured her appearing in nothing but a towel because she felt they were gratuitous or devalued her worth.”

What awards and recognitions has Meghan Markle received?

Aside from her role in Suits, Meghan Markle appeared in movies like Horrible Bosses, Remember Me, A Lot Like Love, and Fringe. However, according to IMDB, Meghan Markle has not received any awards for her acting.

However, as the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle used her power and influence to appear at multiple nonprofit events. She attended the WellChild Awards and met with the winner, William Jones, and his mother. During February 2019, Meghan Markle and her husband attended the Endeavour Fund Awards.

In 2015, the actress gave a speech she gave for UN Women on International Women’s Day, explaining how “she may have encouraged Procter & Gamble to change the tagline to an advertisement for dishwashing liquid when she was 11,” according to Business Insider.

“It was roughly a month later when the soap manufacturer, Procter & Gamble, changed the commercial for their Ivory Clear dishwashing liquid,” she said. “They changed it from ‘Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans’ to ‘People all over America.’ It was at that moment that I realized the magnitude of my actions. At the age of eleven, I had created my small level of impact by standing up for equality.”
