Meghan, Duchess of Sussex never got to meet Princess Diana. But the two women have a lot in common. Meghan’s all about philanthropy just like her late mother-in-law. And her own experience as a royal mirrors Diana’s in a lot of ways. What’s more, when it comes to food they have similar habits.

Meghan takes after Harry’s mom where food is concerned. Diana filled her plate with fruits and vegetables and it seems Meghan does too.

Take a look inside Meghan’s fridge and find no trace of junk food. Meghan always has in her fridge an assortment of foods such as carrots (her dogs like them too), hummus, almond milk, and chia seed pudding.

Harry’s supposedly picked up some of Meghan’s food habits. He started exercising more regularly and eating more fruits and vegetables ahead of their 2018 royal wedding. Also, it’s been reported Meghan removed junk food from Nottingham Cottage when she moved in with Harry.

Before juicing became a food trend Diana was trying it. In fact, it’s one of the foods Diana ate regularly

Her former chef, Darren McGrady, once recalled the time she arrived home and told him, “‘I need a juicer. I want to start having fresh juices.’”

McGrady obliged and “started making juices for her with carrots, celery, parsley, spinach” for Diana.

Turns out, Meghan also drinks fresh juices loaded with vegetables. Not only has she said green juice is a staple in her fridge, she told TODAY how she whips up the concoction at home for an “easy pick me up.”

“If I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger in my Vitamix in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso,” Meghan said.

Meghan Markle doesn’t eat much meat and neither did Princess Diana

Diana didn’t eat red meat except on special occasions. For example, when Diana had dinner with Clint Eastwood, they dined on roast lamb.

Just like her later mother-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex’s diet is light on meat. When she was still on Suits, Meghan shared what she eats. She said she tries “to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.”

Meghan Markle indulges from time to time like Princess Diana

Meghan tries to eat as many nutrient-dense foods. Although that doesn’t mean she never indulges in a sweet treat or a not-so-nutritious meal every now and then.

Meghan’s a fan of chocolate cake. But more often than not, Meghan will skip dessert for wine

“French fries and vino are my vices,” Meghan once said.

As for Diana, she’d have something sweet when her sons, Harry and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge were home. McGrady would make bread and butter pudding, Diana’s favorite dessert.
