Meghan Markle’s Former Employee Defends Her After ‘Dictator’ Comments, Says It’s an ‘Injustice’
Meghan Markle has not had the easiest time defending her reputation. She married Prince Harry in 2018, and ever since, she has been at the center of mostly-negative media attention. Even after relocating to California, there are still people trying to take the duchess down.
Recently, Meghan came under fire after anonymous sources reported that she was extremely difficult to work with and was a “dictator in heels.” But now, one former employee is speaking out against the claims, saying Meghan is filled with “kindness.”

When Meghan and Harry wed, the British tabloids had a field day digging up as many negative stories on her as possible. It led Meghan’s reputation to suffer, and she’s been trying to shake that ever since. But in early September, The Hollywood Reporter released a story based on anonymous sources who claim that Meghan was incredibly difficult to work with. One person said she was a “dictator in heels,” while another said that those who have worked for Harry and Meghan call themselves the “Sussex Survivors Club.” Now, Meghan’s former employee, Mandana Dayani, who was previously the COO of Archewell, has spoken out in defense of the duchess.
“Part of the profound injustice of having to speak publicly on this in light of these endless and damaging narratives is that so much of the kindness, mentorship, and support that Prince Harry and Meghan share with others happens quietly behind closed doors,” Dayani told Us Weekly. “These are kind, decent, caring people who I am very proud to call my friends.”
Dayani also spoke of Meghan and Harry’s dedication to helping those in need. “Throughout every global crisis, their first question was always: ‘How can we help?’ Whether they were veterans, women, refugees, animals in harm — they both showed up. Never asking for anything in return.” Dayani said that Meghan and Harry visited Uvalde, Texas after the elementary school shooting in 2022 spoke directly with affected families, too.

The most interesting thing about the recent claims speaking of Meghan’s difficulty is that they come from anonymous sources. And when that’s the case, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re fake or unreliable, but it does mean the claims should be taken with a grain of salt.
It’s certainly possible that people who worked under Meghan and Harry had different experiences. Perhaps lower-ranking employees were treated differently than a high-ranking COO, though it’s not fair to assume that, either. The reality is that Meghan and Harry have at least one person in their corner who won’t let unnamed people control the narrative of Meghan’s reputation. It remains to be seen whether others might speak out.
