Meghan Markle Inspired Vanessa Bryant To React To Her Mother’s Hurtful Interview, Source Suggests
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Vanessa Bryant seemingly don’t have a lot in common at the surface despite their similar ages and the fact that they are both LA natives. However, the past year has brought forth some major life changes for both women.
While Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry have made the unprecedented leap to leave the British royal family and move to California, Bryant is still reeling from the tragic deaths of her husband, NBA icon, Kobe Bryant, and her daughter, Gianna Bryant in a helicopter accident.
Now, as Bryant has been trying to heal, her mother, Sofia Laine, has run to the media to spread hurtful lies about her daughter. Perhaps taking her cues from the Duchess of Sussex who was unable to speak up for herself amid a similar situation, Bryant is clapping back.
Vanessa Bryant’s mother has made some horrible claims about her
Kobe and Gianna Bryant passed away in a horrible accident just eight months ago. In the months that have passed, the NBA community as well as Bryant’s close friends like LaLa Anthony and Ciara have all rallied around Bryant and her daughters.
Sadly, the 38-year-old’s mother has not done the same. Laine appeared on Univision’s El Gordo y La Flaca, accusing her daughter of repossessing her car and kicking her out of her home following the accident.
In the same interview, Laine did admit that Bryant was still helping her out financially.
Meghan Markle’s father has said terrible things about her to the press
The Duchess of Sussex knows a thing or two about what Bryant is going through in terms of a parent gone rouge. In the days leading into her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry and in the years since, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, has spread rumors and lies about her to the press.
He accused the duchess of not helping him financially, he published a private letter she sent him, and he voiced his disgust over Megxit and not seeing his grandson, Archie Harrison.
As a senior member of the royal family, Meghan was unable to do or say anything publicly to rebuke her father. Now, Meghan is suing Mail on Sunday, Associated Newspapers Limited in a privacy claim.
Vanessa Bryant used a line from Meghan Markle to clapback at her mother
Bryant has been a strong voice since the passing of her husband and daughter. She immediately hit back at her mother’s claims. In a statement to People, she said,
My husband and daughter passed away unexpectedly and yet my mom has the audacity to do an interview on TV talking negatively about me while shedding tears about a car and home that wasn’t in her name. She has removed all her diamond jewelry, emptied her apartment that I provide, and put the furniture in storage to appear as though she is without support. My husband and I have financially supported her over the past 20 years, and I continue to do so, in addition to her monthly alimony.
In addition to stating that her mother has not been a support during her time of immense grief, Bryant ended her statement by saying, “Going forward, I see what is most important to my mom and it is beyond hurtful. I hope this public airing of our personal relations will stop here.”
It echos a statement that Meghan wrote to her father saying, “If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace.”
