Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been married since 2018. When the two wed, Meghan received a number of jewels from the late Princess Diana, Harry’s mother who tragically died in 1997. Since then, Meghan has been spotted wearing Diana’s jewelry and subtly using it as a way to honor her late mother-in-law.

Meghan has often seen wearing high-end designer jewels from Diana, but you might be surprised at how much the Duchess of Sussex’s jewelry collection is actually worth.

Meghan Markle inherited more than $500,000 worth of jewels from Princess Diana

Meghan and Harry were married in a widely-televised ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor more than six years ago. As time passed, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the royal family dwindled, and they eventually stepped back from their royal roles altogether. Still, Meghan received a lot of jewelry from Diana when she and Harry wed, which she continues to wear to public appearances as a way of regularly honoring Harry’s mom.

But it might surprise people to know that Meghan’s jewelry collection from Diana is worth a staggering $507,000, according to Express. “Another particularly sentimental piece is Princess Diana’s gold cuff bangle, which Meghan first wore during her royal tour of Australia with Prince Harry in 2018. Featuring two large cabochon sapphires that appear to be 5 carats each, it’s likely to be worth around £25,000,” jewelry expert Maxwell Stone told Express. That amount translates to $31,700 US. Harry also sourced some of the diamonds for Meghan’s engagement ring from his mother’s collection, although the main diamond came from Botswana, a place where Harry and Meghan took their first trip together. Meghan has been spotted in all kinds of pieces from Diana, also including a pricey diamond tennis bracelet.

Prince Harry has always said his mother would have loved Meghan Markle

Although Meghan did not meet Diana, Harry has always been confident that the two would have had a great relationship. Diana and Harry were super close, and it’s always sweet to see Meghan wearing Diana’s jewelry.

It’s not uncommon for royals to inherit jewels that have been passed down from previous generations. On Meghan and Harry’s wedding day, Meghan wore a sparkly tiara that came from the jewelry collection of Princess Mary (later Queen Mary, who was married to King George V) back in 1893. Kate Middleton, who is married to Prince William, has also been spotted wearing plenty of Diana’s jewelry as well as pieces from the late Queen Elizabeth II’s collection.
