Meghan Markle Made a Mistake Going Into ‘Fight Mode’ With Knee-Jerk Reaction Amid Damning Allegations Against Her
Just as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry began their quest to rebuild their reputations, the duchess was hit with blistering allegations about what it’s like working for her courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.
More than a dozen people who used to work for the couple and call themselves the “Sussex Survivors Club” spoke to the outlet about Meghan describing her as a “terrible boss” everyone is “terrified of” who “barks out orders” like a “dictator in high heels.”
Shortly after that came out, like clockwork, some of Meghan’s friends and current and past employees began countering those claims by singing Meghan’s praises. But coming to the duchess’s defense didn’t have the effect they intended.
Here’s more on that and why a commentator says the former Suits star made the mistake of going into “fight mode” after the horrible boss story was published.
Meghan’s team fought back against the ‘dictator in heels’ allegations, but that backfired
THR’s damning report titled Why Hollywood Keeps Quitting on Harry and Meghan, details instances members of the Sussex Survivors Club say they witnessed and went through when the duchess was their boss.
One source explained: “She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice. They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”
Within days, a few Archewell employees came to Meghan’s defense to refute some of the claims and talk about how wonderful Harry’s wife is to work for. But following their glowing reviews of how great of a boss Meghan is, the Sussex Survivors Club doubled down by insisting not only is Meghan a “dictator in high heels,” she’s also a “demon boss.”
A former employee, who was on the duchess’s staff in the run-up to her royal wedding, spoke to The Daily Beast and said: “I always thought she was a classic narcissist, and getting her staff to tell a magazine how amazing she is only confirms that in my mind. She is lovely when it is all going her way but a demon when the worm turns.”
Commentator points out another reason it was a mistake for Meghan to go into ‘fight mode’
Royal commentator Emily Andrews weighed in on THR’s story and Meghan’s quick reaction to the claims saying it was “interesting.” She opined that the duchess and her team went into “fight mode,” which then brought even more attention to the story.
“It was a short piece that didn’t even make the front cover. But the Sussexes’ reaction was even more interesting than the original story,” Andrews told Woman magazine per Express. “Uncontained fury would be my reading. And by helping with a huge cover story for one of America’s most-read weekly magazines, her staff were, in fact, drawing attention to the original piece in The Hollywood Reporter and the unpalatable accusations within it. Harry and Meghan may have been better served by just ignoring it and rising above. But instead, Archewell went into fight mode almost immediately to defend Meghan.”
As for THR, the publication stands by its reporting as a dozen people came forward to share their unpleasant experiences working for Meghan.
