Meghan Markle has been paving her own way ever since she and her husband, Prince Harry, removed themselves from the royal family back in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now working on businesses that are separate from their royal endeavors, but more recently, Harry and Meghan have been taking different paths and creating individual opportunities for themselves.

In 2025, Meghan seemingly has one major goal as she continues to build her own brand.

Meghan Markle seemingly wants to build a name for herself and detach from Prince Harry

There were a number of rumors about Harry and Meghan’s marriage throughout 2024, but Harry very much confirmed that he and Meghan are happy together. Still, that doesn’t mean they have to do everything as a couple. In late 2024, Harry and Meghan started attending events individually and working more closely on their own solo projects (and no, it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with their marriage).

In 2025, at least one royal commentator believes Meghan is “determined” to set out on her own — from the business perspective — and make a name for herself that isn’t so closely attached to her husband.

“The mark that Meghan seems to want to make as 2025 rolls around is that of a woman determined to set out on her own,” royal commentator Daniela Elser wrote in news.com.au. She added that Meghan’s plan is to develop a name and likeness that has “nothing” to do with Harry or the royal family. Meghan is starting with her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which she soft-launched in early 2024 and reportedly is still working on. The brand has nothing to do with Archewell or her businesses with Harry.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are determined to live more normal lives

Harry and Meghan left the royal family in an effort to build more privacy and normalcy for themselves and their family. The duke and duchess moved their son, Prince Archie, to the United States in 2020 when he was about 10 months old, and they welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in California in 2021.

Harry has said that he loves living in the US for several reasons, but during The New York Times DealBook Summit, Harry said it allows him to do things with his kids that he “undoubtedly” couldn’t do in the UK, which is all the more reason to remain in California.
