Meghan Markle married Prince Harry back in 2018 and spent a little less than two years as an official working royal. During her time as Her Royal Highness, Meghan became very involved with various philanthropic issues. And when she returned to the United States, she continued to work with charities that had meant so much to her both before and during her royal tenure.

But now, the Duchess of Sussex has been issued a stark warning by at least one royal expert who doesn’t think she can handle taking a certain new career path.

Meghan Markle issued ‘warning’ over entering the world of politics

There has been buzz ever since Meghan stepped back from her working royal role that she might someday get involved in politics in the United States. Because of her dedication to charities while in the royal family, it’s been suggested that she might venture into this new career path. Although the rumors haven’t been confirmed or denied, at least one royal expert warned the duchess that she would be “eaten alive” if she tried become a politician.

“I think if she got involved in American politics with the title of the Duchess of Sussex she would be eaten alive,” royal author Robert Jobson told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, according to Express.

Jobson continued, “I just think it’s a dirty game and if she thinks she’s been badly treated by the British press, it will be an awful lot worse if you enter the world of politics in America.”

American politics has known to be quite divisive in recent years, and it certainly requires a thick skin. It’s possible Jobson does have a point in the sense that Meghan has already been through a lot with her reputation.

Meghan Markle has made no mention of a political career

Before people jump to conclusions about the duchess’ future, it’s important to note that Meghan has not decided whether or not she’ll make a political run. Right now, she’s focused on her lifestyle brand and upcoming cooking show. She teased American Riviera Orchard earlier this year but has yet to officially launch the brand.

The rumors surrounding Meghan’s alleged political career remain unfounded, though she and Prince Harry have taken two tours of countries this year — Nigeria and Colombia — both of which greatly resembled former royal tours the two used to take. This could be Meghan’s way of building up her public reputation due to an upcoming political announcement, but it’s only speculation. For now, Meghan seems to be diving back into the lifestyle space that played a big role in her life before she met Harry.
