Meghan Markle’s Advice to Mindy Kaling Proves She’s More Disconnected Than Ever on Netflix Series
Meghan Markle‘s Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, debuts in less than one week. However, it appears Meghan is more disconnected than ever when it comes to how most people live. She doles out-of-touch advice to her celebrity guests, including Mindy Kaling, who is prominently featured in one of the series’ eight episodes.
Meghan Markle’s celebrity pal shares ‘misconception’ about Duchess of Sussex
Time Magazine spoke to Meghan Markle’s friend Mindy Kaling, who revealed details of advice Meghan shared with her about entertaining. Kaling appears on one of the eight episodes of With Love, Meghan for Netflix.
Kaling shared the biggest “misconception” about Meghan. “She really is a down-to-earth person who knows a lot of fun tricks to make entertaining and cooking easier,” the actor, writer, and producer shared.
Kaling revealed that when she filmed Meghan’s Netflix series, she was on maternity leave with her third child, a daughter. “Meghan texted me that she was doing a show where she was going to cook for her friends. Would I want to come to Montecito and have her cook for me?”
Kaling left the delicious shoot with a full belly, and a basket of fresh produce, homemade jam, and hot sauce. She also learned some of Meghan’s entertaining tips and tricks.
“I love cooking, but I’m really not good at entertaining. I don’t know anything about how you’re not supposed to use overhead lighting when people come over. You’re supposed to use little lamps.”
She concluded, “Meghan just knows how to do that stuff. For kids’ parties I usually just go to the party supply store and get paper things, which I don’t judge, and neither does she. But it was fun to learn simple ways to do a homemade kids’ party.”
Is Meghan Markle disconnected from reality when it comes to lifestyle advice?

Meghan Markle’s lifestyle advice promotes wellness and empowerment but lacks real-world practicality. From advocating for self-care rituals that include luxury spa treatments to discussing financial independence while living in a multi-million-dollar Montecito estate, her guidance is out of touch with the struggles of everyday people.
In a 2022 interview with The Cut, Meghan spoke about “making active choices” to create a better life. Yet an argument can be made that Meghan’s privileged status makes her advice unrealistic for those balancing jobs, families, and financial hardships.
While Meghan has been praised for encouraging mindfulness and self-improvement, she lacks awareness of the challenges facing average individuals. Her Archetypes podcast on Spotify aimed to explore women’s struggles, yet much of the discussion centered around celebrity experiences rather than common hardships.
As Meghan continues to build her brand, an ongoing debate among royal watchers ensues. Is Meghan offering meaningful insight, or is she disconnected from reality?
When does ‘With Love, Meghan’ debut on Netflix?
Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, is scheduled to premiere on Mar. 4, 2025. Originally set for a January 15 release, the lifestyle series’ debut was postponed due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires in early 2025. Its launch coincides with Meghan’s As Ever brand drop.
The eight-episode series will be available for streaming on Netflix. All episodes are released simultaneously.
With Love, Meghan marks the Duchess of Sussex’s return to the lifestyle genre, blending practical how-to segments with candid conversations featuring friends and special guests. Filmed at a farmhouse near her Montecito residence, the show aims to provide viewers with insights into cooking, gardening, and entertaining via appearances by Prince Harry, chef Roy Choi, and actress Mindy Kaling.
