This Is How Meghan Markle’s Mom, Doria Ragland Feels About Megxit
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has had a challenging time since she married Prince Harry in May 2018. Though she’s had the support of her husband, dear friends like Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney, and her mom, Doria Ragland, others have not made it so easy for the former actress to step into the spotlight.
The British press and public have constantly bullied the duchess — hurling abusive, racist and sexist rhetoric at her. If that wasn’t enough, Markle’s maternal family, her father, Thomas Markle and half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr., and Samatha Markle have made the duchess’ life and living hell. At every turn, they have spewed insane lies about her for clout and checks.
Now that the duchess and Harry, Duke of Sussex have decided to step away from royal life, everyone has an opinion. However, the duchess’ mom’s opinion might be the most profound.
The real reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to step away from royal life
In their October 2019 documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, the Sussexes got candid about how stressful and upsetting royal life had been for them. It was the first time they spoke openly about the injustices that they had endured.
On Jan. 8, 2020, the duo announced they would be stepping back as senior royals to become financially independent and focus on their charitable entities. Now that the pair are no longer working royals, the duke has revealed why he had no choice but to protect his family.
“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” he said in a speech during a reception for his charity, Sentebale. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always got it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”
The Sussexes have chosen peace and their own well-being over everything else.
Meghan Markle’s dad is furious about Megxit
The duchess has been estranged from her father, Thomas Markle, since 2018 when he skipped out on her wedding for a paid photo opp. Since then, he’s continued to chat with tabloids, sharing personal messages from his daughter, and saying terrible things about her.
Since he adores the spotlight (though it cost him his relationship with her daughter and grandchild) — Markle was one of the first people to voice his opinions about Megxit.
“It’s disappointing because she actually got every girl’s dream,” he said in his upcoming documentary, Thomas Markle: My Story. “Every young girl wanted to become a princess and she got that and now she’s tossing that away, for, it looks like she’s tossing that away for money. It’s kind of embarrassing to me. I think both of them are turning into lost souls at this point. I don’t know what they’re looking for.”
How sad, that this man thinks a woman’s only aspiration is to be a “princess.”
Meghan Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland’s opinion on Megixt is important
The duchess is still extremely close to her mother, who spent time with the Sussexes, and her grandson, Archie Harrison over the holidays. Ragland has never spoken publically about her daughter, Prince Harry, or the royal family.
According to People, Ragland supports her daughter and son-in-law’s decision entirely. The insider revealed, “Doria says, ‘Meghan is strong and will always be okay.'” They also explained that she’s obsessed with being a grandmother. She says her grandson is the cutest,” the source added.
All that matters is that the Sussexes are making the best choice for themselves.
