Meghan Markle’s Mother Has Taken on a Major Role in the Sussex Family As Harry and Meghan Are ‘Extremely Protective’ Of Their Children
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in the United States for more than four years. The duo purchased a gorgeous Montecito, California mansion back in 2020, and it’s were they are raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Harry and Meghan don’t regularly speak to any of their family members with the exception of Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, who has taken on a major role in the family now that Harry and Meghan have relocated to the US.
Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, is an integral part of their family
When Meghan and Harry moved to the US, Doria was the only family member they had regular contact with. She has since moved into the couple’s massive home, and the three of them continue to have a close relationship despite that neither Harry nor Meghan are close with any other family members.
But Doria has taken on a much larger role with Harry and Meghan since they moved to the US — she is their live-in nanny when it comes to taking care of the children. It’s been reported that Harry and Meghan do have nannies who help out but that, while they’re traveling, the two don’t trust anyone to stay home and watch their children besides Doria.
“Harry and Meghan have used a number of nannies in the past, but now that Doria has moved in with the family, she has stepped up to help look after the children,” an inside source told Express. “There is sometimes additional help, but Doria is working closely with Meghan to ensure that the children are brought up in a close-knit and loving family environment.”
Meghan and Harry had more help with nannies when they were full-time working royals, but they likely spend more time at home now than they did when Archie was born.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still aren’t close with other family members
There are a handful of royal family members with whom Harry and Meghan have a close relationship — namely, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. Harry has also received support from Princess Diana’s family members, who attended his Invictus Games ceremony in the UK back in May 2024 when no royal family members showed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not remained close with too many family members since leaving the UK, and Harry said earlier this year that he is focused on his own little family. Of course, it’s possible that things will change through the years and that Harry and Meghan’s kids might eventually get to know their cousins across the pond, but time will tell.
