Meghan is no stranger to charitable causes. Even well before she met Prince Harry in 2016, she was speaking out on behalf of animals and pet adoption.

After she married into the royal family, she continued to spend her time working with animal rescue organizations, often referencing her own experience as a dog owner. In a 2019 essay, Meghan detailed how important it is to give animals a second chance at love: “As a proud rescue dog owner, I know from personal experience the joy that adopting an animal into your home can bring,” she detailed.

“The choice to adopt a pet is a big decision,” the Duchess of Sussex wrote. “…[it] comes with much responsibility but infinite return on investment. It will undoubtedly change your life.” The former actor is still an animal devotee, even though she has since left the royal family — and she and Prince Harry have several pets of their own.
