Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new Santa Barbara house is a California dream

Since the summer of 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have been living in their new estate located in the neighborhood of Montecito in Santa Barbara. When they first moved to California, the royals lived in Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion before deciding on their new community where they have Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey as neighbors.

According to Variety, the house sits on seven acres of land. It’s a 19,000 square foot home with nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. The house also includes a library, gym, separate wet and dry saunas, an elevator, arcade, game room, and home theaters,

There is also a guest house for Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, a tea house, a children’s cottage, a full-size tennis court, a lap-lane swimming pool, and an elaborate built-in children’s playset.

“This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible,” an insider told Page Six.

Who paid for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new house?

When news swirled that Prince Harry and Meghan had purchased their new home, their multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify had not yet been made public. Therefore, fans assumed that Prince Charles helped the couple finance their new home.

However, that was not the case. Before their deals, the Sussexes were worth at least $30 million together. As a result, they were able to secure a $9.5 million mortgage on their $14.7 million home.

They were also able to buy the house at a major discount. Russian businessman Sergey Grishin bought the estate in 2009 for $25.3 million and tried to sell it for years.

Royal fans are obsessed with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s living room decor

Since moving into their new home, fans have only seen glimpses of the property. The couple has showcased their lavish backyard in their Christmas card, during Meghan’s interview with Gloria Steinem and in the photo of their pregnancy announcement. However, in the Sussexes’ virtual appearances, we’ve seen a bit more of their living room.

Behind their couch, the couple has fresh flowers and the Diptique’s Tubereuse candle which means their home probably smells fresh and fragrant. Additionally, fans spotted their coffee table book which includes Women by National Geographic, a Annie Leibovitz photographic book, and Humans Of New York.

However, the highlight in the room is the couple’s geometric couch cushions. The couple is clearly adhering to the Japandi trend, which means their house has a theme of minimalism, clean lines and neutral tones, and natural textures like linen. The stunning couch cushions are a perfect example of that.
