Did Meghan Markle Just Reveal Her Baby’s Gender With a New Piece of Jewelry?
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have announced that they are expecting their second child together and royal watchers have been taking bets on whether they are expecting a boy or girl. Now though many fans believe that Meghan just sent a signal to everyone about what they are having with a new piece of jewelry.
When Meghan Markle’s pregnancy was announced
On Feb. 14, Meghan and Harry shared their happy news via a black-and-white photo of them under a tree together smiling at one another.
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” a spokesperson for the pair said, adding, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
No details about the due date or sex of the baby were given. But fans have since spotted what they believe is a clue from Meghan about the baby’s gender.
The duchess’ new ring caught the attention of royal fans
Late last week the prince and duchess promoted their Archewell Audio podcast via a video from their home in Santa Barbara. The Express noted that after spotting a pink ring on Meghan’s finger, a number of fans began questioning if Meghan was hinting that she and Harry are having a baby girl.
“Is this pink stone a hint?” one user asked.
Another wondered the same thing, questioning: “Is the ‘pink’ ring an ‘indication’ that it might be a little girl?”
A third posted: “Was that her subtle way of saying I’d [sic] having a GIRL?”
A fourth person was absolutely convinced after seeing the duchess’s jewelry writing, “IT’S A GIRL!!!!”
The ring is a rose-cut pink sapphire made by Ecksand. It can be spotted in a few frames in the video below.
Why some people are convinced the Sussexes are having twins
Another thing royal watchers have been taking bets on is what Harry and Meghan will name their child and if they are having twins. Prince Harry previously stated that he and Meghan want “two children max” in order to be kinder to the environment.
“I’ve always had a connection and a love for nature. I view it differently now, without question,” the Duke of Sussex told conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall. “But I’ve always wanted to try and ensure that, even before having a child and hoping to have children..”
“Not too many!” Dr. Goodall interjected to which Harry responded, “Two, maximum!”
However, some royal fans believe (or are just hoping) that they will have three and think that Meghan could be expecting twins. The duchess is 39 years old and according to WebMD, the chances of a woman having twins increases with age.
Studies have shown that this could be from hormonal changes as older women have higher levels of the follicle-stimulating hormone which prompts a “greater likelihood of having fraternal twins.” In addition, women over the age of 35 are “more likely to prepare more than one egg per menstrual cycle.”
