Meghan Markle Reveals the Most Exciting Part of Her New Life Away From the Royal Family
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, has opened up to Oprah about her struggles as a royal family member. According to Meghan, she now has a lot of freedom that she didn’t have while under the constant scrutiny of the UK Press. And ever since the Duchess of Sussex departed from the royal family, she finds her new life to be “really fulfilling.”
Meghan Markle suffered suicidal thoughts while in the royal family
In Meghan’s interview with Oprah, she claims that she didn’t want to be alive anymore due to the constant attacks she was facing from the media. Unlike any other members of the royal family, Meghan faced racism daily by the UK Press. It got to the point where she constantly thought about ending her life.
“I just didn’t see a solution,” she tells Oprah. “I would sit up at night, and I was just, like, I don’t understand how all of this is being churned out,” she said, referring to the endless press scrutiny. “I realized that it was all happening just because I was breathing. I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially because I know how much loss he’s suffered. But I knew that if I didn’t say it, that I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”
“It’s so important for people to remember that you have no idea what’s going on for someone behind closed doors,” she says. “You have no idea. Even the people that smile the biggest smiles and shine the brightest lights.”
And according to Meghan, it was tough for her to speak up about her mental health problems because they made her feel ashamed. But in the end, speaking out about her feelings turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to her. “It takes so much courage to admit that you need help,” says Meghan. “It takes so much courage to voice that. As I said, I was ashamed. I’m supposed to be stronger than that. I don’t want to put more on my husband’s shoulders. He’s carrying the weight of the world.”

Ever since Meghan and Harry left the confines of royal life, the Duchess of Sussex feels a lot more freedom and fulfillment.
Oprah asked what the most exciting thing about her new life was.
Meghan responded by saying, “I think just being able to live authentically. It’s so basic, but it’s really fulfilling. And just getting back down to the basics,” she says, referring to their calmer lifestyle.
Now she claims her life is even better than a fairytale, thanks to her romance with Harry and their adorable child, Archie.
Meghan Markle says she and Prince Harry are now ‘thriving’
Ever since their departure from the royal family, Meghan claims that she and her husband Harry are “thriving.”
“I’ve said for a long time to H—that’s what I call (Harry)—it’s not enough to just survive something, right?” she said, according to Harper’s Bazaar. “That’s not the point of life. You’ve got to thrive, you’ve got to feel happy. I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip. I tried, I really tried. But I think that what that does internally is probably really damaging.”
