For weeks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s names have been in the headlines, but not for the reasons they had hoped. They’ve been dubbed “disaster tourists” for surveying areas of Los Angeles County destroyed by the wildfires and slammed for supposedly volunteering at an evacuation center where they showed up for 17 minutes and had a “photo op” with Pasadena’s mayor Victor Gordo. And then came the blistering Vanity Fair “American Hustle” story.

The publication spoke with people who used to work for Meghan and revealed that she was such an “awful boss” that some of them “needed therapy” after dealing with her. Allegations similar to that were also made in 2024 when members of the “Sussex Survivor Club” called the duchess a “dictator in high heels” and a “demon boss” who has “psycho moments.”

But another claim in the piece is said to have really “devastated” Meghan and now Harry is looking into whether they can sue the magazine for “damages.”

The allegation that has ‘devastated’ Meghan

Of all the allegations in the Vanity Fair cover story the one that has reportedly upset Meghan the most is that someone in her circle was shopping a “divorce book” for when she left Prince Harry. According to the magazine, a person from Meghan’s team allegedly had a conversation with a publishing house to “gauge interest” in the idea for such a book. However, the article did note that “no offer was ever made, and no manuscript was produced. After all: There was no divorce.”

But Meghan is said to have found that claim “devastating.”

A source who’s been in contact with the former Suits star told OK!: “Meghan knows that the rumors always make their fans worry about a split, and she doesn’t like that sort of negativity being spread. Meghan was devastated when she saw all of these reports about a ‘post-divorce’ book coming out.

“She knows there’s no truth to them and it’s just upsetting for her to constantly have this negativity around them. She’s getting really sick and tired of all the split rumors. Everywhere she looks and reads there is something about her and Harry breaking up.”

Harry is upset about the story as well and reportedly considering legal action

A person close to Prince Harry has already shared that he is very unhappy with what was written about him in the Vanity Fair piece. And now Radar Online is reporting that given that and the allegations against his wife, the duke is considering suing the publication.

The insider said: “This article is disturbing on multiple levels, leaving Meghan feeling utterly humiliated and betrayed. Harry was equally taken aback. It was a relentless attack on their reputations and they are deeply hurt. This situation can’t be brushed aside. Vanity Fair carries significant influence and credibility in elite social circles on both sides of the Atlantic, and the breadth of the allegations is alarmingly extensive and harmful.

“Harry has made several phone calls to explore his legal options and to see if he has a claim for damages against the magazine. They are discussing their options.”
