Meghan Markle Should Not Be Blamed for Prince Harry’s Move to Hollywood, Author Says
In 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their positions as senior royals. The couple moved to Southern California and is now assimilating themselves into Hollywood circles.
Given the fact that Meghan is a former actor from Los Angeles, many people believe she was the one who decided to move the family away from the United Kingdom. However, an author claims fans should not be so quick to blame the move all on Meghan.
Meghan Markle has been accused of pulling Prince Harry away from his family
After moving to California, Meghan and Harry became more and more distant from the rest of the royal family. The couple even publicly criticized some royals in interviews with various news outlets.
While supporters believe Meghan was simply getting Harry away from a situation he did not like, some believe she came between him and his loved ones.
“People say I’m too critical of Meghan Markle — but she ditched her family, ditched her Dad, ditched most of her old friends, split Harry from William & has now split him from the Royal Family. I rest my case,” Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan once tweeted.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s old friend, TV personality Lizzy Cundy, even claimed the duchess became a “manipulating” person in recent years.
“I think Meghan changed to a girl that maybe was more manipulating in doing what Meghan wants to do,” Cundy said in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia. “I saw a different side.”
Author says people should not blame Meghan Markle for Harry moving to California
Despite common beliefs that Meghan was the one who pulled Harry away from royal life, author Andrew Morton says Harry wanted to be in Hollywood more so than people think.
“Meghan Markle is blamed for Harry coming to Hollywood,” Morton told Good Morning America. “When ironically, it was Harry who was very keen to do an interview with Oprah.”
He added, “Sadly for Meghan, there’s a narrative that’s built up that’s wholly negative towards her.”
Morton also claimed that Harry made many decisions about their lives while they were still senior royals, and Meghan reportedly even “deferred to him.” However, the public would often blame her when things went awry.
Princess Diana always knew Prince Harry would move to the U.S.
Harry going to the United States would likely not have surprised his mother, Princess Diana, one bit. Diana, apparently, was once told that a move across the pond was in Harry’s future.
Back in 2017, Diana’s astrologer Debbie Frank shared that the States appeared in Harry’s astrology charts. Frank told Express, “I remember meeting Harry one day at Kensington Palace. He was dressed as a policeman and playing with William. Harry was six. It was around the same time we saw America in his chart and Diana was thrilled with the link.”
Of course, Diana did not know exactly why Harry would be going to the U.S. Frank shared that Diana imagined Harry going to a university like Harvard. Diana had been to the U.S. before, and she reportedly thought it was a “modern and different” place.
During the Sussexes’ tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Harry also mentioned that Diana may have predicted their exit from the royal family.
“What my mum would think of this? I think she saw it coming,” Harry said. “And I certainly felt her presence throughout this whole process.”
