Meghan Markle Will Struggle to Compete With Her Lifestyle Brand Because ‘She’s No Martha Stewart,’ Says Former Palace Staffer
The wait is almost over for Meghan Markle‘s fans as her new lifestyle show is set to debut on Netflix after a nearly two-month delay. The duchess’s eight-part docuseries With Love, Meghan was initially supposed to premiere on Jan. 15, but was pushed back amid the devastation from the California wildfires. It’s set to drop on the streaming platform on March 4.
And now someone who used to work for the royal family is throwing their two cents in about why they think Prince Harry’s wife is going to struggle in the lifestyle space and won’t be anything like the Queen Martha Stewart.
Ex-Palace staffer says ‘actress’ Meghan will struggle not having Martha Stewart skills
Paul Burrell began working in the royal household when he was 18 years old and served as Queen Elizabeth II‘s personal footman. In 1987, he was moved to Charles and Diana’s household. When they separated Burrell remained on staff and served as Diana’s butler, looking after her and her sons until the princess’s tragic death in 1997.

Speaking on behalf of Prime Casino Burrell said: “This Netflix show, which will be aired now in March … It’s the Meghan Show … I think she’ll be judged by that, but let’s not forget, she’s an actress. She can act in this role, she can fall back on those acting skills.”
However, the former royal butler cautioned that while Meghan has the “acting skills” to get through the eight-part docuseries looking like the hostess with the mostest, he doesn’t believe she has the actual “lifestyle skills” to be the next Martha Stewart.
He opined: “I doubt very much she’ll become a new Martha Stewart because she doesn’t have the lifestyle skills unless there’s somebody behind her, feeding her the lines as an actress would expect.”
Another reason the duchess won’t be able to compete in the lifestyle market

Burrell gave another reason he doesn’t think Meghan can succeed in the lifestyle space pointing out: “This is a tough area to compete in, in America, because America is filled with the best hosts you can possibly have.”
He added: “Whether she’s good enough or not, the public will judge her. We’re waiting to see what she’s got and whether she can pull it out of the bag. People may warm to her. However, the royals are on a safe ship in calm waters, whereas Harry and Meghan have been in choppy seas for quite some time and you can’t actually continue that. You can’t. Something has to give.
“I’m eager to watch it and to see what she’s going to produce. I’m not so sure I want to buy her jam, but I think it’s going to be interesting to watch. Meghan will have to reveal her hand in this game of poker because Harry’s already revealed his. We haven’t yet seen Meghan’s.”
