Meghan Markle Thought Kate Middleton ‘Secretly Envied’ Her for This Ability, Source Claims
Reports of feuding between Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge dominated the headlines for some time and, while it’s unclear how much truth there was to the rumors, a friend of Meghan’s claims that the duchess hoped to have a closer relationship with Kate.
A new report claimed Kate was overworked after Megxit
In a Tatler article about the Duchess of Cambridge, writer Anna Pasternak reported that after Prince Harry and Meghan left their royal duties, Kate was burdened with more work and left “exhausted.”
A friend shared with Pasternak, “Kate is furious about the larger workload. Of course she’s smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn’t want this. She feels exhausted and trapped.”
“She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays,” the insider added.
A source revealed the root of the duchesses’ feud
The article also shed some light on why Kate and Meghan may have had a falling out, as a friend of Kate’s shared with Tatler, “I don’t think that she ever pulled Meghan under her wing and said, ‘I’ll show you the ropes.’”
Further, the insider said, “Catherine and William were very circumspect from the beginning about Meghan, which hurt and incensed Harry. William rightly cautioned Harry to slow the relationship down. That’s why they all fell out.”
“As the rift got deeper between the brothers, Kate, who used to be so close to Harry, tried to pacify things. But her loyalty will always be to William,” the source added.
A source claimed Meghan was disappointed that she wasn’t close with Kate
In response to the Tatler article, a source shared with Daily Mail that Meghan had hoped she and Kate would have been closer but friends believed that Kate may have envied Meghan because she was so outspoken.
“Meghan said on her last trip to England, Kate barely said two words to her and that it’s absolutely preposterous for her to start playing the blame game,” a source shared.
The insider continued, “Of all the people in the royal family, Meghan said she had hoped to develop a close relationship with Kate, but was never given the chance. It was hurtful and disappointing for Meghan.”
The insider also claimed that Kate didn’t provide support when Meghan “was at her lowest, struggling to adjust with very few friends,” believing that if things had been the other way around, “Meghan said she would have gone out of her way to make Kate feel part of the family. She would have embraced their sisterhood.”
The friend also shared that Meghan believed Kate “secretly envied” the way Meghan prioritized her happiness and her “ability to speak her mind” on such matters.
“Meghan said Kate only has herself to blame for not setting limits and for not speaking up for herself,” the insider added.
