Meghan Markle’s 1 Ambitious Move Reportedly Got Her More Lines in the Movie ‘A Lot Like Love’
Before Meghan, Duchess of Sussex became one of the most famous royals in the world, she was an actor in Hollywood. She was best known for her role on the TV show Suits, but she had appearances in many other series and movies as well.
Meghan has a reputation for being ambitious, and one story about her role in the film A Lot Like Love truly highlights this trait.
Meghan Markle had many cameos and small roles in Hollywood
Before she got her big break on Suits in 2011, Meghan spent many years getting simply cameos and small roles.
For example, in the 2000s, she had appearances on TV shows like General Hospital, CSI: NY, and 90210. She was also a briefcase model for over 30 episodes of Deal or No Deal.
Additionally, Meghan had cameos in movies such as A Lot Like Love (2005) and Horrible Bosses (2011).
Meghan Markle expanded her role in ‘A Lot Like Love’ with 1 move
A Lot Like Love was one of Meghan’s first appearances in Hollywood. In the movie, she played a girl named Natalie who tried to flirt with Ashton Kutcher’s character on a plane ride.
According to the book Meghan and Harry: The Real Story by Lady Colin Campbell, Meghan’s character was only supposed to say one word. However, Meghan’s gutsiness during her audition got her more lines.
“[Meghan’s friend from college] Lindsay Roth, pitched Meghan for a one word role, which she got, though not before Meghan informed Nigel Cole, the director, that she had read the script and thought she’d be better suited for a larger role,” Lady Colin wrote. “Although she did not get the role she sought, she did get the one which Lindsay Roth had suggested, and even managed to get it expanded so that she ended up having five times as much to say as before.”
Meghan Markle has been accused of trying to ‘hustle’ as a royal
Lady Colin has been one of Meghan’s loudest critics ever since she married Prince Harry in 2018. Lady Colin had reservations about a Hollywood celebrity marrying into the royal family, and she believed Meghan did not understand what being a royal meant.
“Like there’s a massive difference between being a celebrity hustling your way from the bottom to the top — and she was a very proud hustler, she used to use the word hustle for herself and her first husband very proudly — and being a lady or being a royal,” Lady Colin said in 2019, according to The Sun.
She added: “You don’t hustle, the values, the embodiment is completely different. She’s sorted, she’s got it. I think she needs to now embrace it and understand it’s a new game in town.”
In 2020, Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals and moved to Montecito, California. The couple has been working on their charity foundation, Archewell. They also signed a deal with Netflix and Spotify to produce content for the platforms.
