Meghan Markle’s Father Breaks Silence on Royal Asking About Archie’s Skin Color, Says He Was Asked the Same Thing
Something that has continued to happen ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle walked down the aisle is that her father, Thomas Markle Sr., hasn’t stopped talking to the press. And when the Duchess of Sussex cut off all communication with her dad, he trashed his daughter and her royal husband on morning talk shows.
After years of not speaking to Meghan, Thomas is now weighing in one of the most explosive claims the former Suits star made during her TV special with Oprah Winfrey and says he got the same question.
Meghan told Oprah a royal family member was ‘concerned’ about Archie’s skin color
When speaking to Oprah in the interview that aired on March 7, 2021, the Duchess of Sussex told the longtime talk show host: “We have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title.’ And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Since then, many royal fans and experts have been wondering which senior royal asked about Archie’s skin color. While others wondered if what Harry’s wife said was even true and if so, could it have been misinterpreted. Megan’s father is one of those people who believes it was said but taken out of context because he was asked the exact same thing before the duchess was born.
Thomas Markle said people asked him the same thing about Meghan
Meghan’s estranged father has now broken his silence on the race allegation. Thomas thinks there was nothing wrong with the question about Archie’s skin color because people asked him that prior to Meghan’s birth and when they did so he didn’t label them as racists.
“That’s just curiosity that most people have and it can never be answered until the birth. It was nothing more than a simple innocent question,” Thomas told GB News. “When I married Doria and she was pregnant with Meghan, some of our friends asked the same question and they were not racists they were just curious,”
He added: “It’s very apparent that my strong Scottish, English genes were dominant.”
New book claims Prince Charles is the one who allegedly made the remark
Innocent or not, since the allegation is out there it was only a matter of time before someone claimed to know which royal said it. Now a new book is claiming it was Harry’s father, Prince Charles.
According to Christopher Andersen’s book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan Prince Charles spoke to his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, about Meghan and Harry’s kids saying: “I wonder what the children will look like?” To which she responded: “Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain.” A source told the author that the Prince of Wales then lowered his voice and asked: “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”
When asked about the claim in the book a spokesperson for Prince Charles told Page Six: “This is fiction and not worth further comment.”
