Meghan McCain Confirms She’s Not Returning To ‘The View’ for Election Day
Meghan McCain has been missed on The View this election cycle. The conservative co-host has been away from the talk show as she is on maternity leave. Many fans believed that McCain would return for the Election Day coverage and give her political insight, but sadly that is not going to happen. The Republican star has now confirmed she won’t be appearing for the presidential election coverage.
Why is Meghan McCain not returning?
McCain gave birth at the end of September to a precious little baby that she named Liberty Sage. Before delivering her daughter, the television personality had been asked if she would be coming back after giving birth. Many of her fans believed she would return for Election Day as she implied it when she made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
“Why does everyone ask me if I’m getting fired or quitting every 20 seconds?” she said on the Brave late-night show, annoyed that fans asked. “No other host has to deal with this BS. Yes, I’m coming back. It’s an election cycle.”
As McCain mentioned the election, her followers were hopeful she would provide her insight and analysis ahead of the big day.
McCain confirmed on Monday, November 2 that she would not be returning to The View or the ABC network for the coverage.
“To everyone asking — I will not be on The View or ABC this week for election coverage,” McCain tweeted. “I have a deep love and passion for politics and am fascinated by this election but I am also grateful for this precious time on maternity leave I am spending with my incredible baby Liberty.”

It’s no secret that McCain is loving her new role of being a mother to baby Liberty. McCain’s mother Cindy McCain recently made an appearance on the ABC talk show and gave viewers an insight into how things are going for the TV host.
“She’s beautiful, she’s just perfect,” Cindy said on the show. “They’re so happy. She’s the first little girl in the family so I’m very excited about that. They’re just doing really well; Meghan couldn’t be happier, and [Meghan’s husband Ben Domenech], as well. The two new parents that are just enjoying every second of it.”
McCain has been protective of her newborn’s privacy and decided early on that she would keep her as guarded as possible. However, the star did share a cute photo of herself holding Liberty and it melted so many harts.
“Bliss,” McCain posted.
Days before, McCain also expressed to her fans what it was like being a mother and how her whole perception of it had changed drastically.
“Motherhood is euphoria,” McCain wrote on Instagram along with a picture of a necklace that said “mama.” “All of the cliches have come true and exceeded well beyond my wildest expectations — it is hands down the best thing I have ever done in my entire life and I am completely in awe of our daughter.”
“Having Liberty is like observing my entire heart life and exist outside of my body,” she continued. “She is a little wildcat — beautiful, strong, alert, already so full [of] life and spirit… I only wish I had done this sooner.”
