Mel B Admitted the Other Spice Girls Keep Kicking Her Out of Their Group Chat

In early 2024, Mel B — also known as Melanie Brown or Scary Spice — hinted that the Spice Girls had plans for some sort of reunion. This thrilled fans, but the rest of the group was not as happy with her. Brown revealed that her excitement about a reunion has made the others boot her from their group chat on more than one occasion.

The Spice Girls have kicked Mel B out of their group chat

In an April appearance on the show This Morning, host Alison Hammond said she heard Brown “got kicked out of the WhatsApp group” for the former members of the Spice Girls. Brown confirmed that this was true.

“Ah, yeah, that always happens to me,” Brown said, per Entertainment Weekly. “Yeah. Because I say things. I get so excited when it comes to Spice Girls, because it is 30 years!”

She added that she shouldn’t say anything about a potential reunion, lest she irritate the other women and get kicked out of the group chat again. Still, she said she couldn’t help but feel excited.

“We’ve got a lot to celebrate: The fact that we’re all still healthy, and living life, and all talking still,” she said, later adding, “You know, the certain things that we’ve done together, you can’t really explain it because it happened to us five, and it was just extraordinary.”

The Spice Girls reunion reportedly isn’t happening because of Mel B and Geri Halliwell

Just this year, Brown excitedly confirmed that the Spice Girls were “definitely” doing something to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

“We are definitely doing something,” she said on Loose Women, per Marie Claire.  “I’m probably going to get told off [for revealing that], but I’ve said it. There you go. I’m in trouble now.”

A few months later, however, it seems that the group will no longer go forward with their reunion. This is reportedly because of drama between Brown and Geri Halliwell. 

“Geri has had enough to deal with after all the drama with her husband’s relationship with his assistant,” a source revealed. “[I]t has been a tough enough time — and she’s just lost patience with Mel [B] and her little digs and jibes.”

For now, Halliwell has no intention of working with Brown.

“She’s walked away and without Geri it’s really not going to happen,” the source said. “[I]n the past she’s been a driving force in the group, but she doesn’t want to deal with Mel at all at the moment let alone share a stage with her.”

She’s still close with Victoria Beckham

While Brown and Halliwell are reportedly on bad terms, the former is still friendly with Victoria Beckham. As she plans her wedding to fiancé Rory McPhee, Brown revealed that Beckham designed her wedding dress. 

“Victoria actually designed my dress and my mom’s dress,” she said on Today With Hoda & Jenna (per InStyle). “It’s such a beautiful honor to get.”
