Meri Brown recently revealed that she’d prefer not to discuss her finances on Sister Wives. While Meri might not be comfortable with the topic, she seems less comfortable letting the world believe she financially profited from having just one child. The opposite was true, according to Meri.

In the Jan. 19 episode, Meri revealed that while she contributed to the “family fund,” her child’s needs, including college tuition and car payments, never came out of that fund. She financed it without the help of Kody Brown or her sister wives.

Meri Brown reveals that the family fund was not accessible to her for Leon Brown

Meri Brown is spitting mad over the way Kody Brown and his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, are trying to screw her over when it comes to splitting Coyote Pass. The inequity of Coyote Pass isn’t the only finance-related issue Meri Brown has with Kody Brown, though.

Years after leaving her troubled plural marriage, Meri is spilling the financial tea. In the most recent episode of Sister Wives, Meri revealed how much money she laid out for her plural family and how little she got in return.

The mother of one told her friend, Jenn Sullivan, that she regularly contributed to a “family fund” that large expenditures were set to come out of. Still, it was a non-starter when she needed to access that money. Meri revealed that the family fund did not pay for her child’s college education or their car. Meri said she paid for Leon to attend Westminster University. She alone paid for Leon’s car and covered the mortgage on her Las Vegas home. Meri was also shut down when she tried to access “family money” to finance Lizzie’s Heritage Inn. She secured financing separate from the family.

How was the Brown’s ‘family fund’ money used?

It sounds like Meri Brown was on the losing end of the family finances and her investment in it. She admitted that she had no idea how many children and which ones benefited from the family fund. Still, she was sure her child had not benefited. So, where did the money go? While some of it went to buy property, the rest seemed to go to some of the Brown kids.

Kody, in a seemingly interesting fit of disdain, insisted it was “water under the bridge,” and he was unwilling to discuss matters further. He said “we” had 18 children to care for. Viewers are convinced that Kody’s children with Robyn are likely the ones who benefited most from the fund. All of Robyn’s adult children have attended college. it is unclear how that was paid for.

Meri Brown’s fertility struggles were a sore subject for years

Meri Brown and Kody Brown share one child. Leon Brown, who was born in 1995, is the family’s third eldest child. They were born just months after Christine Brown, Kody’s third wife, welcomed her first child, Aspyn Thompson, and just four months before Janelle Brown, Kody’s second wife, had her second child, Madison Brush. Janelle’s eldest child, Logan Brown, was born in 1994.

Meri and Kody struggled to conceive during their early marriage. Following Leon’s birth, they continued to struggle and didn’t welcome additional children together. After Leon’s arrival, Kody went on to father four more children with Janelle, five with Christine, and two with Robyn Brown. He also adopted Robyn’s three children from a previous marriage.

The couple’s fertility issues were heavily discussed on Sister Wives and served as a sticking point for the other wives. Rude comments or jokes were made during the course of the show. Meri has yet to discuss how those comments made her feel. Still, her willingness to discuss how unequal the financial distributions in the family were proves she’s come a long way. Fans hope she’ll pen a tell-all book and shed further light on the situation.
