How Tall is ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Judge Michelle Visage? She’s Shorter Than You Think
Michelle Visage has now been a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race for a decade in addition to being a hit singer and TV personality. Visage is known for her over-the-top personality and her tough-love approach to critiquing the queens who compete on Drag Race. But despite having such a large personality, Visage is a surprisingly small person in real life.
Michelle Visage was a singer for years
In the late 1980s, a young Michelle Visage wanted to break into the music industry as a singer and auditioned for a girl group. The R&B group Seduction released hit songs such as “Two to Make It Right,” which has even been featured as a lip sync song on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Seduction toured with the likes of Milli Vanilli and other well-known acts at the time. In the early ’90s, Visage joined the dance music group The S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M. Their cover of Bill Withers’ classic “Lovely Day,” “It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day!”, topped the Billboard Dance Club chart in 1993 and appeared in the movie The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston.
Michelle Visage has been a ‘Drag Race’ judge for nearly a decade
Visage’s friendship with RuPaul dates back three decades in New York City. They were both nightlife fixtures who first met at a party hosted by the legendary Susanne Bartsch. When they crossed paths again a few years later, they knew they were both destined for stardom — and meant to be by each other’s sides for the ride.
Visage was a frequent guest on RuPaul’s VH1 talk show in the mid-’90s, but she wasn’t able to join RuPaul’s Drag Race in its first season due to a contractual conflict at the time. She became a permanent judge starting in season 3 of the show.
In the decade since she joined Drag Race, Visage has joined RuPaul for several seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and the soon-to-be-released Drag Race Down Under.
Michelle Visage’s height behind the ‘Drag Race’ judges’ table
According to GossipGist and CelebHeights, Michelle Visage stands at 5 feet, 4 inches tall. As a result, RuPaul towers over Visage, as the longtime Drag Race host hovers around 7 feet tall in heels.
In February 2021, one fan on Twitter was surprised that Visage was that short compared to her longtime counterpart. Visage responded confirming her height of 5’4″.
In December 2014, Visage tweeted out a photo outlining which heights are “short” and “tall.” At 5’4″, Visage fell under the “short” category, which she acknowledged: “Yup, I’m short. #ShortGirlAppreciationDay.”
