Mick Jagger Saw Bianca Jagger as the Closest ‘He Could Get to Making Love to Himself,’ Said a Former Girlfriend
When Mick and Bianca Jagger’s mutual friend introduced them, he was struck by the resemblance between the two of them. Bianca had eagerly sought out the musician’s attention and she immediately had it: the two married less than a year after their first meeting. One of Mick’s former girlfriends said he liked Bianca specifically because of how much she looked like him.
Mick Jagger’s ex-girlfriend believed he liked Bianca Jagger because they looked alike
At a Rolling Stones afterparty in 1970, painter Donald Cammell introduced Bianca to Mick.
“Mick, this is Bianca,” Cammell said, per The Baltimore Sun. “You two are going to have a great romance. You were made for each other.”
They quickly began a relationship and, within several months, Bianca was pregnant. Cammell’s prediction seems uncanny, but those who knew Mick said there was never any doubt he would fall for Bianca. He liked being with someone who looked like him.
“There wasn’t ever any doubt that Mick would fall for Bianca,” a former flame said. “Mick looked into Bianca’s face and saw — Mick. It was as close as he could get to making love to himself.”
Mick and Bianca Jagger had a complicated relationship
Mick and Bianca had a whirlwind but ill-fated romance. Bianca said that she even knew on her wedding day that the marriage would not last. She reportedly even returned to the honeymoon suite on her own as Mick stayed out with friends.
”My marriage was over on the wedding day,” she said in a 1986 interview with the New York Daily News (via Entertainment Weekly).
The couple spent much of their marriage at New York’s Studio 54, but they reportedly barely interacted while they were there. At Elizabeth Taylor’s birthday party, they entered with separate groups and walked past one another without speaking. Some believed that this was because Bianca got more attention at the club than Jagger did. She even rode in on a horse one night.
“There was definite competition between Bianca and Mick,” a mutual friend recalled. “She was definitely the queen at Studio 54, and Mick resented being upstaged.”
She filed for divorce after seven years of marriage
In 1978, after seven years of a relatively empty marriage, Bianca filed for divorce. While this was the right move, she said had some regrets about it.
“I was brought up Catholic, to believe that marriage is for life,” she told The Guardian in 2020. “And we failed.”
Mick Jagger went on to have a number of high-profile relationships and affairs following his divorce, most notably with model Jerry Hall. While they had a wedding ceremony, their marriage was never official, making Bianca his only legal wife. Bianca did not remarry following her divorce from the Rolling Stones frontman.
