Mila Kunis Says This Role Is The “Greatest Job Ever”
Mila Kunis‘ career, from supporting character to Hollywood leading lady, has been tremendous. The actor has come a long way since her days as Jackie Burkhart on That ’70s Show. Whether in film or TV, playing dramatic or comedic, Kunis can pull off any part. Although Kunis has had plenty of roles over the years, there’s one, in particular, she loves the most.
Mila Kunis says voicing Meg Griffin is the “greatest job ever”
Kunis has been providing the voice of Family Guy character Meg Griffin for 18 seasons. Meg is a relatable teenager due to her insecurities and feeling like an outcast due to other people’s mistreatment. Throughout the series, one of the running gags is Peter Griffin’s (Seth MacFarlane) declaration of “shut up Meg” to his daughter.
Although her family dislikes Meg, fans love and sympathize with her. As for Kunis’ thoughts on her character, the actor is “grateful” to be voicing Peter and Lois Griffin’s (Alex Borstein) daughter. In a February 2021 interview with Collider, Kunis expressed her love of working on Family Guy. “It’s been the greatest job ever. Ever. Hands down. I dare anybody to tell me that they have a better, more amazing job than that.”
Lacey Chabert orginally voiced Meg Griffin on ‘Family Guy’
Although Kunis has become synonymous with Meg, another actor originated the role. From 1999 to 2000, Lacey Chabert portrayed Meg; however, she left during Family Guy’s second season. The reason for Chabert’s departure stemmed from school and her work on Party of Five.
When it came time to cast a new Meg, Kunis’ name was on the list. However, her audition didn’t go smoothly. In a 2009 interview with The Paley Center for Media, Kunis revealed she had several auditions and was given instructions to speak slowly and enunciate more. Once MacFarlane felt she nailed the part, he offered her the job.
‘Family Guy’ is in its 20th season
The 20th season of Family Guy premiered on Sept. 26. Although many shows lose their luster over time, Family Guy is loved by fans. As long as the show keeps getting renewed, Kunis is happy to stay in her role as Meg. “I hope this never ends. I don’t know what to say. I’m so grateful for this job. I can’t believe people still care,” she explained to Collider.
Family Guy has become Fox’s second-longest-running TV series. As for whether they can surpass The Simpsons, that’s up for debate. However, Kunis seems optimistic about the possibility. “Are we going to overtake The Simpsons? Hell, yes.” It is questionable whether they can reach that milestone; however, fans can watch more of Kunis and the gang with all-new Family Guy episodes.
