Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy Step Out for Glamorous ‘SNL50’ Double-Date Night
Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special featured nostalgic sketches, live performances, and celebrity guests. The extra-long episode thoroughly entertained viewers, with some stars seeing the lion’s share of red-carpet attention. Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy attended SNL50 with their dates in tow. With the A-list actors portraying electrifying chemistry in The Gorge, which premiered on Apple TV+ on Valentine’s Day, some fans were surprised to learn that both are committed to others and close friends at that.
The Gorge centers on two elite snipers (Teller and Taylor-Joy) stationed on opposing sides of a spooky gorge, tasked with preventing an unknown evil from emerging. As filming began for the sci-fi horror action movie in March 2023, Taylor-Joy and Teller performed many of their own stunts. This included a fight with the gorge’s evils in a Jeep suspended over a cliff. Many viewers felt they could cut the pair’s sexual tension with a knife during The Gorge‘s steamier scenes. However, the reality is anything but sexy.
During an interview, Teller shared that his connection to Taylor-Joy “goes back pretty far.” Taylor-Joy explained to PEOPLE, “We share an agent, so I had heard of Miles for a long time before I had met him …” Taylor-Joy elaborated, “And then we met, and that was the same night that I met his delightful wife [Keleigh Sperry Teller], who is now one of my best friends.”
“There’s nobody like [Taylor-Joy],” Miles told E! News. “We have fun and she gets along really well with my wife. They have this really tight-knit bond.” The Top Gun: Maverick star explained that he’s always “just hanging in the background” when Taylor-Joy and Sperry Teller spend time together.
In fact, when Anya’s husband of two years, Malcolm McRae, joins the group, they’re practically a “quadruple,” Teller joked with PEOPLE. “I don’t know what it’s called … a throuple is three people,” he pondered jokingly. “That might come out wrong in text.”
The friendship made things “easy” on set for Teller and Taylor-Joy as they “spent a lot of time together, and we’re all friends.” It also made things fun when the group attended the SNL50 anniversary celebration. The foursome paused for photos together on the red carpet and enjoyed the show, which included throwback sketches and live performances.
With a nine-year age difference between Teller, 37, and Taylor-Joy, 28, their spouses bridge the gap. Keleigh is 32 and McRae is 30. The former met Teller in May 2013 at a Grammy afterparty for The Black Keys. The two hit it off immediately and dated for four years before the Whiplash actor proposed in 2017 while on a South African safari. Miles and Keleigh married on September 1, 2019, in Maui, Hawaii.
Taylor-Joy met McRae, a musician and actor, sometime in early 2021. Cameras spotted the notoriously private pair in NYC in May 2021. The same month, Taylor-Joy told Elle that she found someone who made her “feel happy.” In March 2022, she and McRae moved in together in London, where The Queen’s Gambit star grew up for much of her childhood. Four months later, a secret courthouse wedding occurred. In October 2023, Taylor-Joy and McRae celebrated with a more lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy.
