Singer Miley Cyrus released her first song of 2021 — a remix of Kid Laroi’s song “Without You” to much acclaim. Following their performance on Saturday Night Live in May, the single charted on the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10. With this, Cyrus managed to break a chart record.

Amid her rising Hannah Montana fame, Cyrus dropped her first album. Meet Miley Cyrus was actually released as a double album along with Hannah Montana 2, the second soundtrack album for the Disney Channel series. And it quickly proved to be a successful debut.

Meet Miley Cyrus’ lead single, “See You Again,” dropped in December 2007. After months climbing the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the song peaked at No. 10 in May 2008, making it the artist’s first Top 10 hit. She soon followed this with “7 Things,” the lead single off her second album, Breakout, which peaked at No. 9.

She topped the chart with ‘Wrecking Ball’

Cyrus continued to release singles via Disney’s Hollywood Records that charted on the Billboard Hot 100. “Party in the U.S.A” and the Hannah Montana hit “He Could Be the One” reached No. 2 and No. 10, respectively. And her rebellious single “Can’t Be Tamed” peaked at No. 8, though it marked her last hit for Disney.

The singer reemerged on the music scene with her first album for RCA Records, Bangerz. Following the lead single, “We Can’t Stop,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Cyrus scored her first (and, to date, only) No. 1 hit with the emotional “Wrecking Ball.” In 2017, her Younger Now single “Malibu” peaked at No. 10.

Cyrus landed her first Top 10 hit of the decade with a collaboration. “#WithoutYou w/ @thekidlaroi is Top 10 on @billboard Hot 100 this week,” she tweeted on May 10, 2021, following the Billboard Chart’s reveal. “It’s my 10th top 10 record, a milestone in my musical career!”

The artists continued. “I am always honored to wake to these accomplishments that have WAY more to do with YOU (the fans) than myself! I make music for the love of it and knowing that it is received and resonating with yall is what it’s all about! Thank you for everything everyone!”

Which other female artists have done this?

Cyrus broke a record with her song’s placement. “I am now 1 of just 5 female artists (& the youngest) to have these [Top 10] songs span over 3 decades!” she wrote in her tweet. So who are the other musicians who accomplished this feat before her?

Mariah Carey is naturally among them. Carey was actually the first artist to have a No. 1 hit in four decades, thanks to “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Lady Gaga and Beyoncé also landed Top 10 hits in the ’00s, ’10s, and ’20s. Finally, Cyrus breaks the record previously held by Swift as the youngest woman in this elite group.
