Are Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson Sheltering in Place Together?
It’s been a difficult time for everyone who is sheltering-in-place during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Celebrities aren’t excluded from this, and we’ve seen virtual reunions taking place (like the cast of Victorious) to keep spirits high. But what about those who are separated from their loved ones? Some fans may have been confused about the location of musical couple Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson after he appeared on her Instagram Live show. But we’re setting the record straight.
Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have been dating for months
Cyrus and Simpson began dating in October 2019. Prior to this, she was married to actor Liam Hemsworth, but they separated in mid-2019. She then dated Kaitlynn Carter. But when she and Simpson got together, it was pretty clear that this was more than just a fling.
The two musicians have been friends for many years. This was the foundation for their relationship, which blossomed quickly. Simpson was there for Cyrus during her two surgeries in late 2019, spent time with her family, and even wrote a song about her, “Golden Thing.”
She’s hosting an Instagram Live show ‘Bright Minded’
Cyrus began 2020 strong. Fans were excited to see her heading back into the studio, and promoting her upcoming festival gigs. She even planned to do a show to benefit those affected by the Australian bushfires, a cause Simpson felt strongly about. However, coronavirus brought an end to all of those exciting possibilities.
Not one to be defeated, Cyrus created Bright Minded: Live with Miley, an Instagram Live show meant to help people “stay lit in dark times.” She’s brought on many major celebrity guests, from Reese Witherspoon to Demi Lovato to Elton John.
Simpson on Cyrus’ show
Unlike a regular talk show, Cyrus connected with all of her guests virtually, as she’s self-quarantining like the rest of us during all of this. When fans saw that Simpson was on the roster for April 2, they may have assumed that this would be her first guest to actually be in the room with her. But as it turns out, they were wrong.
Just like with the rest of her guests, Cyrus connected with Simpson via Instagram Live. They mostly talked about his book of poetry, Prince Neptune, with is due out on April 7. She introduced him as “my best friend, my boyfriend.” They also joked about how Prince Neptune is his “alter ego” ala Hannah Montana. “You get the best of both worlds,” he said. “I get paid every time you say that,” she joked.
She cut his hair the night before
Simpson disconnected from the call. “He’s the first person to hang up on me,” she laughed. Cyrus then tried to connect with her next guest, Lauren Singer, but couldn’t get it work. But then, Simpson reappeared — in person! He came on and sang “Golden Thing” to Cyrus, while she put her head on his shoulder.
Obviously, Cyrus and Simpson are sheltering in place together. In fact, the day before he was on Bright Minded, he shared video of her buzzing his hair. “I love it, you look so cute,” she said of his haircut on the show.
They’ve even adopted a dog together
Not only are Cyrus and Simpson spending lots of time together in quarantine, they’re also taking their relationship to a new level. In March 2020, towards the beginning of their shelter-in-place, the couple adopted a dog together: a German Shepherd mix, named Rainbow (nickname Bo).
Bo has appeared in nearly every episode of Bright Minded. When she started talking to Simpson, she held him up to the camera. “My two babies,” he said of seeing them together. “Hello, my son!” When he started wrestling with Cyrus’ dog Bean, he interrupted, “Your parents are trying to work here!” It seems like things are going very well for the little family in quarantine.
