Miley Cyrus’ Live Album Includes Songs From All but 2 Albums — Those From Her Liam Hemsworth Eras
The new Miley Cyrus album, which drops on April 1, 2022, has everyone talking. For longtime fans of Cyrus, the album promises to be unlike anything the artist has ever released. In late March, the singer announced the album, Attention: Miley Live. It features a mix of new songs and familiar favorites. Notably, Attention: Miley Live excludes several songs written during her intense romance with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.
Miley Cyrus’ live album features many of her old songs
Miley Cyrus announced her live album on Twitter. “My fans have been asking me for a live album for a long time & I am so exxxited to give it to them! This show was curated BY the fans FOR the fans!” Attention: Miley Live features live performances of 20 of Cyrus’ most popular songs.
According to Rolling Stone, the album will include two brand-new, unreleased tracks, “Attention” and “You,” along with 18 of Cyrus’ previously-released tunes, performed in a live setting. These songs include “The Climb” from her 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie, “Wrecking Ball” from her 2013 studio album Bangerz, and “Never Be Me,” a hit from her 2020 album Plastic Hearts.
The album also includes several covers, including one of the Dolly Parton song, “Jolene,” which Cyrus has sung publicly on several occasions. In fact, almost every album from her discography is represented — except for two.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had an on-again, off-again romance
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth started dating around 2010 when they co-starred in the movie The Last Song. Over the years that followed, the two stars broke up and made up several times. In 2013, Cyrus and Hemsworth broke up, seemingly for good, and both embarked on romances with other people. However, by 2016, they got back together and even got engaged.
In December 2018, the famous couple tied the knot in a low-key Malibu ceremony. Less than a year later, in the summer of 2019, Cyrus and Hemsworth announced, via their reps, that they had decided to divorce.
Their nearly decade-long relationship coincided with at least two of her albums: 2010’s Can’t Be Tamed and 2017’s Younger Now. No songs from these albums made it onto the live album. This includes Cyrus’ hit “Malibu,” which she wrote for Hemsworth.
Cyrus can joke about her marriage now
Cyrus has been open with her fans after her divorce from Hemsworth. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2020, Cyrus revealed that she was devastated after her marriage ended. “It’s like a death when you lose a love that deep. It feels like a death. Sometimes that even feels easier.” But she’s maintained a sense of humor about the whole situation.
At Lollapalooza in 2022, the singer joked about her marriage. She shared a video on Twitter where a fan proposed to his boyfriend. Cyrus clapped approvingly as the pair got engaged. After, she said, “Honey, I hope your marriage goes better than mine. Mine was a f—— disaster!”
