Miley Cyrus Revealed Her Dad Was Responsible for Her Traumatic Childhood Head Injury
Miley Cyrus talks openly about her mental health and, in an interview for the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, she shared some additional insights about her brain. She also revealed a terrifying story about how she suffered a childhood head injury that she believes really impacted her from that time on. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus took two-year-old Cyrus for a motorcycle ride and… well… things didn’t go so well.
Miley Cyrus shared the details of the traumatic head injury
During a Sept. 2 interview with Joe Rogan for his podcast, Cyrus covered a lot of ground, including how she has had SPECT scans of her brain that show brain health. She mentioned a head injury she suffered as a kid — which turns out, was her dad’s fault.
“I had a head injury when I was, you know, two years old,” she said, prompting Rogan to ask what happened.
“It’s bad. My dad had me — this is really bad, but he can’t go to jail, I don’t think, because it’s a long enough time away,” she started to explain.
Cyrus continued, “He had me in a baby backpack and I was on a dirt bike with my dad. And he was riding, and a tree had fallen, and he ducked and I didn’t, and I hit my head on the tree. It was bad.”
“So that’s what’s wrong. Everyone’s asked me that for years,” she said.
Miley Cyrus explained how the head injury impacted her life
Cyrus also shared some of the insight her therapist Dr. Amen provided about her childhood head injury.
“Maybe it knocked me into this identity or something,” she explained. “He knows that there’s something to that. Dr. Amen, we’ve talked about this a lot.”
Cyrus continued, “So when I get really overwhelmed… I also have a tendency that if I know something’s stupid, I just gotta try it, to know that it’s stupid, which makes it stupid, ‘cause I already knew about it. Sometimes I’m like, is it better to know it’s dumb and do it? Or not know it’s dumb and do it? That’s the head injury.”
Miley Cyrus stopped eating vegan
During the interview, Cyrus also shared the reasons behind quitting her vegan diet, explaining how her brain function was damaged by the way of eating so strictly.
“I was vegan for a very long time and I’ve had to introduce fish and omegas into my life because my brain wasn’t functioning properly,” the singer explained.
She added how vegans “are going to come for me but that’s OK. I’m used to people coming for me.”
Her love of animals, she said, might get her a pass with the angry vegans. “I have 22 animals on my farm in Nashville, I’ve got 22 in my house in Calabasas, I’m doing what I need to do for the animals,” she explained. “But when it comes to my brain… you can’t be vegan and be this quick.”
