Miley Cyrus Wants to Write a ‘Controversial’ Children’s Book
Miley Cyrus is toying with the idea of writing a children’s book –—and it’s shaping up to be one that’s like no other book for kids. The singer is hoping to pen a series of books that teaches kids about life’s realities, an idea she calls “controversial.”
Miley Cyrus discussed how long she’s been sober
During the Sept. 2 episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Cyrus chatted with the host about one area that she hopes to explore — writing a book for kids that touches on drugs and alcohol use.
During the podcast interview, Cyrus discussed her sobriety, which started when she had vocal surgery. “I learned so much about the effects, which again, you’re just not taught,” she said.
Cyrus added, “I’ve become the face of a lot of things kind of against my will. From my opinions, when you’re someone in my position, your opinion becomes your identity and it also becomes almost like… you kind of become this preacher.”
“They don’t really let you just always have your own opinion, so I decided to start telling people I live my own lifestyle,” she explained. “Alcohol was never my problem… I now just avoid really drinking because I like to wake up at 110%.”
She noted, “I think everyone should experiment. It’s a good time and you learn a lot of things about yourself and the people around you.”
Miley Cyrus wants to write a children’s book
When Rogan shared his thoughts about how kids learn about sex and drugs from their peers, he said, “We should teach people how to do it right.”
Cyrus agreed and pitched her book idea. “It’s actually funny you bring this up because I had the idea this week, not that I really have time to do this in the near future but I would like to at some point in my life. I want to do my own children’s book series of realistic children’s stories.”
“Because I don’t like the idea that we teach them that this is sunshine world and everyone walks on a rainbow and everyone’s equal. And you need to say like… that’s not true,” Cyrus said. “What are you going to do about it? And I think there’s a way to not terrify children of life, even though I go in and out of periods where I think life is really overwhelmingly terrifying.”
Cyrus admitted, “I know this is going to be controversial to introduce drugs to kids, I think that there’s a way and I have to think about it.”
“But I do think that we do need to talk about, you know, equality and I do think there needs to be diversity in children’s books,” the singer added.
Miley Cyrus explained how love makes you ‘feel like you’re high on drugs’
During the interview, Cyrus and Rogan talked about love, including the singer’s relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
“The beginning part of love is the most powerful drug you’re ever going to take,” Rogan told his guest. Cyrus agreed, saying, “It’s like cocaine.”
“I had a tendency to need someone in my life at all times,” she added. “When you love someone, the first couple of months you do feel like you’re high on drugs… It’s the same drip.”
