Tracy Tutor from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles has a serious challenge when she has to prepare to sell the house owned by Dancing With the Stars former couple, Gleb Savchenko and Elena Samodanova.

The dancing partners and former spouses decide on a list price of $3.19 million but there’s one big problem – the home was destroyed by former tenants and required a serious refresh. That refresh required the dancers to spend money but ultimately it was all worth it.

The ‘Dancing With the Stars’ house sold in less than one week – after it was staged

Tutor sold the house in less than one week thanks to some clever staging, The Hollywood Reporter reports. She worked with staging company Vesta and ended up selling Savchenko and Samodanova’s home in four days, fielding several offers. The clients spent about $100,000 total on staging and updates.

Staging is not cheap, as often seen on Million Dollar Listing. “For an average home size around 3,000 to 4,000 square feet with four bedrooms and an outdoor living space, we usually see the top-end firms charging anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 — and this can vary based on particular needs for the property,” Sotheby’s International Realty agent Eric Lavey said. “We have had large properties on significant acreage go well above $100,000.”

Douglas Elliman agent Ernie Carswell said that the notion of staging usually comes down to the client.

“It depends on the mind-set of the seller — if they understand the principle of attracting the highest volume of buyers and receiving more offers submitted on their property, then they come into the conversation asking their agent for staging recommendations or property appearance improvement,” Carswell said. “If not, then the discussion is more strained, and the client may not see the need to perform the appearance improvement.”

How did Gleb Savchenko and Elena Samodanova react to their updated home?

Savchenko and Samodanova seemed pretty impressed with the job Tutor and Vesta did on the home. They looked floored when they returned to the property after Tutor and Vesta worked their magic. “Oh my God,” Savchenko said. “Is that my house? All the beams, everything is white. So much air so much space. It’s crazy.”

Cameras showed the before and after, featuring a significant change to the home. “To think we did this in one week,” Tutor remarked.

Tutor gave Samodanova and Savchenko a tour of the house, warning them to avoid falling back in love with the home. “We’re listing it tomorrow,” she said. In addition to paint and furnishings, the staging included updating the lawn and adding green grass.

The house ended up selling above ask at $3,350,000.

Where is Elena Samodanova and Gleb Savchenko’s home located?

The 3,556 square foot home is located at 8331 Skyline Drive in the Laurel Canyon Hills area, Forbes reports. The 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home was completely refreshed and Tutor staged one bedroom as an office space to demonstrate flexiblity.

Tutor’s tour of the home showed how it had great bones, plus luxury amenities like a saltwater pool, high-end appliances, and indoor/outdoor living space.

Savchenko and Samodanova put the house on the market when they decided to divorce in Nov. 2020. “I have huge respect for Elena,” Savchenko said on the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast. “She is the mother of my kids. But you have to communicate. In the early stages [of a divorce], it can be hard because you can’t stand each other. But we decided that regardless of what is going on, when we are together with the kids, we are cool. I get her flowers for Mother’s Day. I want to show my girls how their dad should treat their mom so that they know how they should be treated.”
