Mindy Kaling Joins a Growing List of Celebrities Who Have Surprised Fans with Birth Announcements
Social media has made it easier for fans to connect with their favorite celebrities in recent years. While many celebrities have embraced Instagram and other social media networks, a few have decided to take a step back and keep some aspects of their lives private. In the last few years, several public figures have opted to keep their pregnancies a secret, only announcing their children’s birth after they arrived. Mindy Kaling is the most recent celebrity to shock fans with a birth announcement.
Mindy Kaling announced the birth of her second child on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Kaling shocked her fans when she casually mentioned she had given birth to her second child last month. She shared the big news on the Oct. 8 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. According to CNN, Kaling claimed she didn’t go out of her way to publicize the pregnancy because of everything going on in the world.
Kaling told Colbert that the baby boy, who she named Spencer, arrived on Sept. 3. He joins his big sister, Katherine. Katherine was born in December 2017. Kaling has opted not to reveal the identity of either child’s father.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel also welcomed a child in secret
Jessica Biel has chosen to keep an increasingly low profile since welcoming her first son, Silas, in 2015. Reportedly, she’s keeping such a low profile that she gave birth to her second child with Justin Timberlake with anyone knowing.
In July 2020, rumors began to swirl that Biel and Timberlake had welcomed a second child. Neither commented on the news and have remained tight-lipped since. The only confirmation that the pair actually had a second child came from Lance Bass, Timberlake’s former bandmate. In September 2020, Bass sat down with Entertainment Tonight and revealed that the couple welcomed another son. He declined to share the baby’s name, though. Biel and Timberlake still haven’t confirmed the birth of the child.
Blake Lively, Amanda Seyfried, Mara Rooney, and Iggy Azalea all opted to keep their pregnancies quiet
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds decided to keep their third pregnancy a secret, too. Lively and Reynolds were so coy about the entire thing that they only casually mentioned their third child’s arrival several weeks after it happened. It took months for the baby’s name to be revealed, and according to the National, Taylor Swift made the big announcement for the couple. Their third daughter, Betty, was born in October 2019. Her name was not revealed until July 2020.
Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski shocked fans in September 2020 when they casually mentioned their second child’s birth on Instagram. Mara Rooney and Iggy Azalea did the same. Azalea revealed that she had become a mother on Instagram in June 2020. Rooney and Joaquin Phoenix reportedly welcomed their first child in September 2020. The pair never confirmed rumors that Rooney was pregnant and have yet to officially announced their child’s birth.
