‘Modern Family’: Here Are Some of the Best Halloween Costumes Worn by the Characters
Halloween is a big deal in the Dunphy house. For several episodes of this sitcom, characters dressed up for the holiday, earning praise from viewers in the process.
Here are some fan-favorite costumes worn by the Modern Family characters.
‘Modern Family’ released several Halloween-themed episodes
This series had several Valentine’s Day and Christmas episodes but Halloween was always Claire and Phil’s favorite holiday. These two dressed up together and tried to scare each other. One year, they even turned their home into a “house of horrors.”
Often, other members of the extended family got swept into the excitement. With over 10 years of episodes, there were plenty of iconic Halloween costumes from these characters.
The Pritchett family dressed as the cast of ‘Shrek’ during 1 episode of ‘Modern Family’
Whenever Gloria bought Halloween costumes, she always made sure she was beautiful. That came at a cost to Jay. When she was Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Jay dressed as the beast. When she dressed as Beyoncé, Jay was, as he says, “that guy.”
For one episode of this comedy series, Gloria dressed as Fiona, the princess from the animated movie, Shrek. She dressed her son as the talking donkey. That meant Jay had to be Shrek, the ogre.
Haley Dunphy dressed as Mother Teresa
The eldest Dunphy child wasn’t exactly creative when it came to her costumes. During the “Halloween” episode of this series, Haley first dressed as a black cat. Then, after her mom made her change, a nurse.
Her final costume choice for the episode was a tight white dress and a headscarf. Haley claimed that she dressed as Mother Teresa “back when she was hot.” That still wasn’t good enough for Claire, who asked her daughter to cover up.
Cam and Mitchell dressed as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the ‘Good Grief’ episode
Kids bullied Mitchell for his red hair, but he used this feature to his advantage one Halloween. During the “Good Grief” episode, Mitchell Pritchett and his partner, Cameron Tucker, dressed as Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, respectively.
Unfortunately, the characters were a little too preoccupied with a death in their family to enjoy the holiday.
These wouldn’t be the only Halloween costumes sported by the Modern Family cast members. For one holiday, Gloria dressed in Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” outfit.
This sitcom has since premiered its last episode on ABC, but there are still ways to watch the Halloween specials from Modern Family. Episodes of the award-winning comedy series are available for streaming on Hulu.
