Some members of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family enjoy football in this comedy series. That includes Cameron Tucker, who actually took a position as a football coach. That led him to meet Dwight, the best player on his team.

Here’s what we know about the actor behind Dwight, who appeared in several episodes of Modern Family.

Cam Tucker from ‘Modern Family’ got a job as a football coach

In ABC’s comedy series, Modern Family, the characters Mitch and Cam are parents to Lily Tucker-Pritchett. Mitch is also a lawyer, full-time, sometimes working for himself or his family and other times working as a prosecutor.

Although Cam took a job as a substitute teacher for AP United States History, he found his footing on the field, when he offered the football team some tips and tricks. He eventually got the job as a gym teacher, who doubled as the freshman football coach-turned varsity football coach.

Cam was having a hard time getting wins. That is, until the freakishly tall high school student, Dwight, came into the picture. This student, portrayed by Winston Duke, was the star football player until he told Cam that he would be moving. There was only one solution.

Winston Duke’s ‘Modern Family’ character lived with Mitch, Cam, and Lily for some time

Instead of having Dwight move in with his father, Cam offered for him to stay with him, Lily and Mitchell. Mitch wasn’t exactly in on this decision, but after some manipulation during the “Blindsided” episode, he said yes.

As a new member of the family, Dwight split Thanksgiving with the Pritchett-Tucker-Dunphy clan for the episode “Thanksgiving Jamboree.” This character kissed Alex, even though she had mono and he was still in high school.

The relationship didn’t go anywhere, though, as Dwight eventually left the house. This was no thanks to Lily, who didn’t love having him there to eat all of the food.

This character appeared in three episodes of Modern Family season 8. The series ended a few seasons later, with Cameron taking his football career to new heights in Missouri.

Although Duke only acted in a few episodes of this ABC comedy series, he did star in several Marvel projects, overseen by the Walt Disney Company.

In Marvel’s superhero film, Black Panther, Duke portrayed the brute, yet kind M’Baku. He reprised the role for Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.

The actor later appeared in films like Us, Nine Days, and Spenser Confidential. He’s expected to return for the Black Panther sequel, although the details surrounding that production have not yet been announced.

Modern Family is available for streaming on Hulu.
