‘Moon Knight’ directors were excited when they got the episode 4 script

Per ComicBook.com, Moon Knight Episode 4 co-directors, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, were thrilled when they got the script, which Alex Meenehan, Peter Cameron, and Sabir Pirzada co-wrote.

“So getting that script, I suppose it was a bit like they took us into a room and were like, ‘Guys, we need to talk to you about something,'” Benson shared. “And they opened this large case, and it was Excalibur. Then, we picked it up, and it turned into a script. It was just, it was genuinely, it was a wonderful treasure, such a gift that, that we got to do that. And we were like jealous of ourselves when we found out we were doing that.”

Moorhead added, “The golden light shined on us, like Pulp Fiction. Yeah. It was very, it was just as exciting for us and remains just as exciting for us, because we also, you know, of course, there’s a big surprise to be had. But it’s also, I mean, because we directed it, we’ve seen it 8 million times and still love pressing play on those last 15 minutes.”

It sounds like the fourth episode will keep fans on the edge of their seats, especially during the final 15 minutes.

“There’s a big, mind-bending swing in episode 4 that makes you reconsider some of the stuff that you’ve seen,” Moorhead told The Hollywood Reporter. “Being able to do stuff like that — which pops up all over the comics, and also do great service to the tone and feel of the comics, the excitement of opening something up and seeing something you haven’t seen before — was one of the reasons that we wanted to do this.”

‘Moon Knight’ Episode 4 was among the cast’s favorite episodes to film

The Moon Knight Episode 4 directors aren’t the only ones excited about the upcoming installment. A couple of the show’s cast members also hyped up the fourth hour.

“I like four and five,” Ethan Hawke, who plays Arthur Harrow, told ComicBook.com. “They’re my favorites, when the whole prism turns, and you start to be not sure that you even understand reality.”

May Calamawy, who plays Layla El-Faouly, added, “I wanna say four because of the end. There were amazing sets that were built. And like, you’re so lucky as an actor when that’s there because you can imagine things, but there’s things you wouldn’t have been able to imagine. And it’s just like a gift, after gift. So yeah, huge testament to the set designers on that.”

With all of these cryptic teases surrounding Moon Knight Episode 4, fans are more excited than ever to tune in to a new hour of the MCU series.

What happened in episode 3?

To prepare for what’s to come in Moon Knight Episode 4, we have to discuss the previous hour’s cliffhanger.

Marc and Khonshu tried to appeal to the other Egyptian gods in Moon Knight Episode 3. They warned them that Arthur was planning to release Ammit from her tomb. Unfortunately, Arthur appeared and denied all of their accusations. And since he’s a cult leader and has a particular way with words, Arthur convinced the gods that he was innocent.

Later, Marc and Layla tracked down the sarcophagus of a Medjay named Senfu, which told them where to find Ammit’s tomb. They found fragments of a star map that, when put together, would lead them to Ammit. But the map was from 2000 years ago, so Khonshu had to turn back the sky to that night, which angered the gods. They imprisoned him, leaving Marc and Steven without powers.

Moon Knight Episode 4 premieres Wednesday, April 20, on Disney+.
