Moon Knight never drew any major connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but fans now have an idea of what happened to Marc Spector (Oscar Issac) after Avengers: Infinity War. The show subtly suggests that Marc survived Thanos’ snap, and lead writer Jeremy Slater confirmed it. Slater also shared what the character was up to after it took place. As it turns out, he and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) had a lot in common.

‘Moon Knight’ confirmed that Marc Spector survived the Blip

Despite being part of the MCU, Moon Knight barely references the rest of the franchise — though Eagle-eyed fans figured out that Marc Spector was around after the Blip.

During the second episode of the Disney+ show, there’s a shot of Marc’s passport. And as BGR points out, the document’s date of issue is listed as December 14, 2018. That means Marc got his passport after Thanos’ snap.

That detail all but confirmed that Marc didn’t turn to dust after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, Moon Knight‘s lead writer confirmed the years between Infinity War and Endgame were eventful for the character.

Jeremy Slater reveals where Marc Spector was after ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Viewers already pieced together that Marc Spector survived the Blip, but Moon Knight writer and executive producer Jeremy Slater confirmed it during a conversation with The Direct.

Slater also spoke of Marc’s circumstances during the five-year period between Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. According to him, Marc hadn’t lost control of his body yet — meaning he and Steven weren’t living totally separate lives. That only unfolded recently. Before that, Slater believes Marc was immersed in his career as a mercenary:

“So that’s been the last two years, and we assume the three years before that was sort of Marc, just, there was probably, in the same way, that Hawkeye had his hands full as Ronin because the criminal underworld was running rampant during the Blip time, I assume Moon Knight was keeping very busy.”

Like Daredevil, who now exists in the MCU, Marc would have kept his business on the down-low. As Slater puts it, “he was sort of taking out a lot of threats that never surfaced or saw the light of day.”

With that in mind, it makes sense that Marc never made it onto the Avengers’ radar. But with his origin story complete, it seems likely he’ll show up in future Marvel projects.

Will ‘Moon Knight’ connect to the greater MCU?

‘Moon Knight’: Oscar Isaac Reveals Why He Wanted Jake Lockley to Speak Spanish

Although Moon Knight never directly references the Blip or the greater MCU, fans are hopeful Marc Spector will eventually meet the franchise’s other heroes. Of course, with Jake Lockley currently in control, they may initially find themselves on opposing teams. Only time will tell if Marc Spector makes a comeback. Hopefully, he’ll do it in a way that allows for some much-anticipated team-ups.

Apparently, Moon Knight Season 1 originally contained more ties to the MCU. However, they were scrapped for logistical reasons. But knowing that the Disney+ show could have tied into films like Eternals or Thor: Love and Thunder offers a sense of relief. That means Marvel fully intends to bring Marc Spector into the world of the other heroes. It simply may take longer than expected.
