New MTV Dating Show Features Netflix Reality Stars and ‘The Challenge’ Fan-Favorites
New dating series Match Me if You Can seemingly doesn’t feature any twists but stars reality television personalities from shows The Bachelor, The Challenge, and Too Hot to Handle. What is the show about, and who will appear in the series?
What is ‘Match Me if You Can’ about?
Described as a “crossover event,” the show follows eight popular reality television personalities who move into a mansion together, hoping to find romance.
The cast members go on “epic dates” throughout the season to build connections, and it’s currently unclear if anyone gets eliminated or how that process would work.
According to the trailer, the new series doesn’t seem to include any twists, such as their exes entering the house or unable to see or touch your partner, and the cast members aren’t competing for a cash prize at the end.
Match Me if You Can is hosted by Love is Blind fan-favorite Lauren Speed Hamilton.
‘Match Me if You Can’ features ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and ‘The Circle’ stars
Australian native Harry Jowsey almost immediately hit it off with Canadian model Francesca Farago during the first season of Too Hot to Handle (2020). The two couldn’t keep their hands off each other, costing the house a fortune.
They continued dating following the show but ultimately decided to call it quits. The 23-year-old has since been linked to Are You the One? star Julia Rose and YouTuber Tana Mongeau.
In the trailer, the reality star noted he “can’t believe it’s come to this.” New York native Joey Sasso appeared on the first season of The Circle (2020) and won as himself.
He became close with another contestant, Miranda Bissonnette, and they kissed after she was blocked from the game. The two seemingly pursued a romantic relationship after the show but are currently friends. Now 27-years-old, The Circle winner returned to television looking for love.
‘The Bachelor’ stars will also appear on the show
In 2017, Maryland-based personal trainer Eric Bigger appeared on The Bachelorette vying for Rachel Lindsay’s heart. After admitting to her family that he hadn’t fallen in love before, he was eliminated in third place.
Bigger went on to compete in The Bachelor Winter Games, where he went home in first place and returned for Bachelor in Paradise (2018) but quit in week 5.
Even though the 33-year-old showed interest in a few of his castmates, he hasn’t publicly dated anyone yet. Onyeka Ehie first appeared on season 23 of The Bachelor (2019), hoping to win Colton Underwood’s heart.
She ended up getting eliminated in Week 6 after an argument with another contestant she believed wasn’t “there for the right reasons.” The 26-year-old returned for Bachelor in Paradise but quit after the second episode.
‘The Challenge’ and ‘Are You the One?’ fan-favorites round out the cast
Kylie Smith competed in season 8 of Are You the One (2019), the first to include LGBT+ and sexually fluid contestants.
The Utah native considered Kari Snow her perfect match for a few episodes until the Truth Booth determined they weren’t. The 26-year-old had difficulty finding her partner throughout the season but ended up picking the right person at the last matchup ceremony.
Two-time The Challenge champ Ashley “Millionaire” Mitchell hasn’t publicly dated since she debuted on MTV. However, the 33-year-old has been romantically linked to other cast members Tony Raines, Hunter Barfield, and Jamie Banks.
Big Brother star and The Challenge finalist Natalie Negrotti previously dated a former houseguest before getting into a two-year relationship with someone else. However, they broke up in 2019, and the 31-year-old seemingly hasn’t dated anyone else.
Love Island (2019) star and singer Kyra Green appeared on the first season but didn’t pursue a relationship with anyone after the show. The trailer includes a dolled-up Harry and Onyeka on a date laughing by the campfire, and teases a possible romantic connection between Natalie and Kyrie.
Match Me if You Can premieres on Apr. 21, 2021, following The Challenge: Double Agents finale.
