Who was Lexii Alijai?

Alijai, whose full name was Alexis Alijai Lynch, was an up-and-coming rapper. The Minnesota-bred artist first garnered attention for appearing on Kehlani’s song, “Jealous,” a few years ago. The song was on Kehlain’s Grammy-nominated project, You Should Be Here. The song reached No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Prior to this, she uploaded tracks of herself rapping over the beats of songs from Drake, Tupac, Dej Loaf and more.

She released several mixtapes, including Joseph’s Coat, which featured Elle Varner. By 2016, she had opened up for artists like Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert, while releasing remixes of songs by Bryson Tiller and Meek Mill. Her first full-length project, Growing Pains, was released in 2017.

One of her cousins confirmed the news of her death on Facebook. It is unclear how she died. Her grandfather was influential Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Roger Troutman, founder of the Zapp band.
