‘My 600-Lb Life’: Justin Assanti Dishes on Steven Assanti’s Behavior — ‘Steven on the Show Is Steven in Real Life’
My 600-Lb Life sees a variety of individuals and attitudes on the hit TLC show. Some work easily with Dr. Now, while others struggle. Then there are folks like Steven Assanti. Fans of the show will remember Assanti’s shocking behavior, which included raging outbursts, tantrums, and more. Steven Assanti appeared on the episode with his brother, Justin Assanti, who has since dished on Steven’s behavior, claiming that it’s the real deal.
Steven Assanti hates his ‘My 600-Lb Life’ episode
Since appearing on My 600-Lb Life, Steven Assanti has explained that he really dislikes his episode of the show. What’s more, Steven Assanti’s wife has also pushed back on his portrayal in the episode.
“His face, his eyes and hair, I think he’s beautiful. Beauty is skin deep and he has a heart of gold….[Steven is] nothing like how he was perceived on the TV show at all or on his YouTube videos. He’s a gentleman and a fantastic lover and lover of life in general,” Assanti’s wife told Starcasm.
Steven Assanti himself has claimed that TLC dramatized his behavior on the show, suggesting that TLC producers are aggressive.
“[T]here were days where I didn’t feel like filming, and didn’t want to open my door. They would just wait outside until I did open my door, and they would continuously knock. They were more persistent and aggressive, I guess. Annoying,” he told Nicki Swift.
“They only show me going crazy, and yelling at people, and taking pain pills, and just all the bad stuff. They filmed me and my family doing good things too, but they choose to show just the bad things,” he added.
Steven Assanti and wife separate
Although Steven Assanti and his wife are still together, the My 600-Lb Life star admitted that they have separated for a time. Apparently the fame, good or bad, that came from the show proved to be disruptive for their relationship.
As a result of the tension it manifested, the two decided to separate and live 90 minutes apart, though they are still in love and trying to work things out, per Steven Assanti.
“She’s kind of doing her own thing. We’re always working it out. I love her with all my heart and she loves me. We’re just in two different households right now. Need a little break,” he told Nicki Swift.
Justin Assanti says ‘My 600-Lb Life’ was accurate
Steven Assanti of My 600-Lb Life may suggest that TLC gave him a bad edit, but his brother Justin Assanti begs to differ. In fact, he claims that TLC’s portrayal of his brother was entirely accurate to real life.
“Steven on the show is Steven in real life. It’s one of the few things not scripted,” he told Starcasm.
Since the episode, Steven Assanti has not reached out to Justin Assanti, something that his younger brother says he’s fine with. Justin Assanti went on to add that much of his combined visits to Dr. Now with Steven were forced, as he would have rather gone to visits apart from his brother.
He claimed that Dr. Now was aware of the challenges he and his brother faced when together and went along with production requirements nevertheless.
