‘My Dress-Up Darling’ Blu-Ray and DVD Sold Over 10,000 Units – What It Means For Season 2
The Winter 2022 romantic comedy anime, My Dress-Up Darling, captured fans’ hearts. And the slow-burn romance between Marin Kitagawa and Gojo Wakana pushed the My Dress-Up Darling Blu-ray to outsell almost every other anime release in the last full week of March. While the anime series can be streamed on Funimation and Crunchyroll, fans clamored for the physical release.
How many copies did the ‘My Dress-Up Darling’ Blu-ray and DVD sell in its first week?
My Dress-Up Darling (Japanese name Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) Blu-ray and DVD first released on March 23, 2022, in Japan. And the Blu-ray alone nearly sold 9,000 copies in the first five days.
“Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru [made] its debut at 8,931 copies sold in the first five days,” Erzat reported. “Note that its DVDs are also charted at Number 3 with an additional 1,199 copies sold, putting its total 5-day sales at 10,130 copies.”
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Millennium Scenes was the only other release to outpace the romance anime.
The My Dress-Up Darling characters debuted on January 9, 2022, and continued for 12 episodes, released in six volumes on Blu-ray and DVD. The season 1 finale aired on March 27.
However, while fans loved season 1, they still hope to avoid cancellation and see My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 renewed. While CloverWorks has not yet confirmed a second season, the sales help the case for a continuation.
The sales could be great news for ‘Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru’ Season 2
While fans in the West might think the goal of manga is to get an anime adaptation. However, most anime exist to push manga, Blu-ray, and DVD sales.
With My Dress-Up Darling Blu-ray and DVD performing well in the first week, CloverWorks will take notice.

However, limited-edition volumes are also out there. While CloverWorks announced them in early 2022, you may have to do some hunting online for the special editions, though.
“Fans who purchase any limited edition volume can get a B2 clear poster and desktop character fine graph if they purchase from the following stores: AmiAmi Online Shop, Gamers, Seven Net Shopping, TSUTAYA Online, and Toranoana (excluding some locations),” Anime Corner reported in January 2022.
