For seven seasons, the popular TV sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch starred Melissa Joan Hart as a young woman whose life was a mix of normal and supernatural. For example, she had a pet cat. But he could talk because he was actually a 500-year-old witch who was transformed as a punishment for trying to take over the world.

One of the “mortal” parts of her life was her relationship with Harvey (played by Nate Richert), her boyfriend throughout her high school years. Almost 20 years after the series ended, fans still want to know what happened next for the couple. Here’s what Richert thinks is the answer to that burning question.

When Sabrina turned 16, she found out that she was a witch. She goes to live with her aunts, who teach her about her powers. Discovering and learning to use these abilities naturally complicated her life, including her relationship with Harvey Kinkle.

When Sabrina the Teenage Witch premiered in 1996, Richert became a teen heartthrob. Fans loved him as Harvey, Sabrina’s sweet but oblivious boyfriend. For years, he didn’t realize his girlfriend was a witch who had cast many spells on him throughout their relationship. Harvey found out the truth at the end of the fourth season, and he couldn’t accept it. The couple split up, and Richert left the cast.

However, this wasn’t the end of Richert’s work on the series or Harvey’s relationship with Sabrina.

What does he think happened after the end of the show?

After he left as a full-time cast member, Richert made a few cameo appearances. When the series finale arrived in 2003, he returned and interrupted her wedding to someone else. The couple discovered that they were soul mates, and the series ended with them riding off together on his motorcycle.

What happened to the happy couple after the credits rolled? In a 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he and the rest of the cast weighed in on that question.

The interviewer asked where the characters would be today, and Richert theorized that Harvey would be “a very successful mechanic with his own garage.” Hart asked if he would be married, causing an uproar from the rest of the cast.

“Oh yeah! What, are you kidding me?” He added sarcastically, “No, we got divorced a week later.”

Caroline Rhea, who played Sabrina’s aunt, chimed in with a heartfelt “You are SO happily married in my mind!”

Harvey may have quickly settled down, but Richert took a little longer to find his path. According to TV Over Mind, after the end of Sabrina, Richert only landed a few minor acting roles. After a few years, he decided to focus on music instead. Since then, he’s been a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. In 2012, he released a debut album, Halogeen

In 2018, Richert shared on Twitter that his early success hasn’t translated into an easy life.

“I’ve been an actor for 32 yrs (since age 8),” he wrote. “I’m extremely lucky to have had any success at all, let alone solid work in film and TV for 6yrs (20yrs ago). I’m currently a maintenance man, a janitor, a carpenter, and do whatever random jobs I can get to pay the bills. I do improv and songwrite to maintain my sanity.”

Richert’s life these days takes place mainly outside the spotlight, but he seems happy with how things worked out. He continues to work in the music industry, and in 2019 he married actor Malorie Felt.

For die-hard fans of Sabrina, it’s good to know that Richert agrees with them. Without a doubt, Harvey and Sabrina rode off into the sunset and lived happily ever after.
